Zimbabwe Domestic Cricket

Hmmm just when you think that they're starting to make progress something like this pops up. Disappointing.

That's sad :/

On a positive note, Wellington Masakadza has caught my eye. His figures so far have been very impressive.

Luke Jongwe has put some good performances in for the Rocks recently with both bat and ball, one for the future maybe?

@swirler Do you know if the guys involved in the WT20 are returning to Zimbabwe to play domestic cricket?

I used to really love following Zimbabwe when the likes of Ervine, Carlisle, Streak, Blignaut, Flower used to play for them. They were capable of creating an upset any day! This Zimbabwe side looks a bit blunt, but still are a very talented side. Still there are good players. There's no interest taken by the cricket board.

They definitely have some talent, they just need a good consistent run of matches. There's no point in playing cricket for 4 months and then none for the next 8 otherwise no progress will be made.

Just looking now and there are no scheduled matches for Zimbabwe until the 2015 World cup which is bad. Hopefully they get some cricket, even if it is Bangladesh...again.

What is worse is that even if they are paid for one term, since they play so less cricket it is always almost a year that they go without pay and it only adds fuel to fire of one of biggest disputes in Zimbabwean cricket and that is not helping the case of good players switching teams looking for greener pastures. Ultimately, such little things is hurting so bad to the extent they might not make a formidable team even in distant future if they do not try and curb such issues which also includes the alleged corruption in Zimbabwe Cricket board in using the grant given by ICC.

Big fan of Jongwe. He is not far off Zimbabwe selection, if he continues these performances. It's a shame we don't play many Zimbabwe "A" matches. It would be good experience for players like Jongwe and Moor.

They should play in the next round of matches. Will lift the level of the competition, if nothing else. :)

I think we have a tri-series with South Africa and Australia before the world cup. Plus we are meant to be touring Bangladesh as well. Can't tell you dates, but I've read that we have those two this year. :)

I've noticed a lot of the international players are playing for their respective teams today, Some low scores being posted though.

A big score from Sikandar Raza, only needs 1 run once play resumes today for his double ton.

12 wickets for Vitori in the Eagles win over the Rocks and a double hundred from Raza. The Eagles probably have the strongest team out of the 5 franchises on paper although the Rhino's aren't too far off them.

The Eagles collapse too often, If it wasn't for Chakabva, Vermeulen & now Raza they would be struggling. Rhinos have relied on Taylor to save them, when he's played, but the addition of Wadlan as an overseas player has helped, and Sibanda returning to good form. The Mountaineers have the strongest bowling attack; there batting hasn't been that great, but have now been bolstered by the International players. The Tuskers are very much rebuilding after losing a lot of experience, and have done very well considering this. It looks like Wayne James is doing a good job. Finally the Rocks are the Rocks, and unfortunately will be removed from the competition next season.

I think that was Vitori's first ten for, and Raza's first double century, so they are both big achievements for them. :)
