Zimbabwe tour Pakistan Oct / Nov 2020 ODIs & T20s

I got super excited thinking the series started today instead of next week.

Should be a good series - I just want to see our fringe players really take commanding roles. The T20 competition that just finished was surprisingly good and we seem to be coming into this well prepared. One thing that I'm happy with is the dropping of Amir and the likes - he hasn't been the same since his comeback (barring a game here and there) - clearly coasting on his reputation.

Hopefully some nice scores of 300 ish on these flat decks and we get some chasing experience under our belts.

Big blow for Pakistan as the newly appointed vice-captain, Shadab Khan has been ruled out from the 1st ODI tomorrow, due to a minor injury.

Hopefully, it is time to see Zafar Gohar in the green jersey. Should be exciting!

Btw I can't understand the ambiguities regarding the result of this series. Pakistan is always going to win this one. I won't be surprised if Zimbabwe leaves Pakistan without having a single win under their belt. I am not suggesting because Zimbabwe isn't as strong but because this is a series in Pakistan and that too in a pandemic situation. Pakistan will definitely be charged up with passion for this series. I don't remember Zimbabwe ever winning a match away from home apart from Sri Lanka in 2017. The current Zimbabwe team is inexperienced and don't have enough fire power to beat a Pakistan side playing at home.

This is 100% true but on the flat tracks (which we'll most likely get in Rawalpindi) Zimbabwe has the firepower to string a few surprises. Don't forget how well they fought against Pakistan in Lahore 2015 series, and could've defeated Pakistan in their backyard, had it not rained in one of the ODIs, and brought both the T20Is down to the wire. Additionally, all the high-profile players are back in the Zimbabwean setup.

I won't be surprised if they fight well, nor would I be surprised if they go home winless. By the way, it is difficult to predict the scoreline of any series involving mercurial Pakistan. :D

Just now noticed the squad. You are right about this. Felt like the old Zimbabwe team of 2014-15 very much capable of causing upsets to even sides like Australia, England & India. But I still believe Pakistan may edge out by a fair margin.

Does anyone know who be broadcasting or streaming this match

I think, this list will help you.
  • India: Sony Six, Jio TV, Airtel Xstream & Sony Liv app
  • UK: Sky Sports Cricket
  • Australia: Fox Sports
  • South Africa: SuperSport
  • Canada: ATN Cricket Plus (Asian Television Network)
  • USA: Willow TV
  • Malaysia: Astro Cricket HD
  • Middle East and North Africa (MENA) countries: OSN Sports Cricket HD
  • Afghanistan: RTA
  • Bangladesh: Gazi TV
  • Pakistan: Ten Sports Pakistan
  • Sri Lanka: SLRC (Channel Eye)

The YouTube stream has been excellent so far. The only issue is it is 8 balls behind.

280 should be a very competitive total here.

Is there a more selfish player than Imam-ul-Haq?

This is such a terrible line-up fielded by Pakistan today.

Imam (anchor 1)
Abid (anchor 2)
Babar (anchor 3)
Haris Sohail (anchor 4)
Rizwan (anchor 5)
Iftikhar (poor man's Afridi)
Faheem (poor man's Razzaq)
Imad (the only good hitter)
Wahab (can smash a couple)
Shaheen
Rauf

This is such a terrible lineup. Pakistan is playing with 6 anchors, who have played 17 overs of dots out of 28.2. 6 out of 8 batsmen can't hit regular sixes if their life depended on it. Pathetic defensive mindset of Babar and Misbah.

How the lineup should've been:

Imam
Abdullah Shafiq
Babar
Haider Ali
Rizwan
Khushdil Shah
Imad Wasim
Zafar Gohar/Faheem Ashraf
Wahab Riaz
Shaheen Afridi
Haris Rauf

This team has 3 anchors at max, with Haider, Khushdil, Imad, and even Abdullah forming the power-hitting squad, and easily scoring 300+
