ICC World Twenty20

Yup Jadeja shouldnt be playing.Irfan is slightly better than him at the moment.
Sehwag
Gambhir
Yuvraj
Raina
Dhoni
Yusuf Pathan
Irfan
Harbhajan
Ojha/Praveen
Zaheer Khan
RP

That lineup would massacre the opposition .Although I would go for Zaheer and Praveen instead of RP just because of the fact that RP and Zaheer are bowlers of similar style and would be picked easy by the batsmen.

Or maybe swap Irfan and RP there if this doesnt click.;)

Irfan, Zaheer and RP are all left armers. You dont want that many left armers (if Ojha plays, we dont have Praveen which means no right armer at all). Either drop Irfan or RP and pick Praveen (or Ishant if we want pace). Zaheer is a must (contrary to what sifter says). Zaheer is frugal and miserly, and he will be a boon for us in T20. Even a single dot ball builds up pressure. Zaheer can bowl a lot of them. He might not be the best fielder going around but he is pretty decent on the field. Zaheer plays. We can rotate between Ishant, RP and Irfan. If Yusuf is playing, Jadeja might not be needed. But I would be tempted to pick Jadeja in place of Ojha if we need a spinner. Jadeja is a very useful spinner and his batting would be invaluable.

Bowling is a worry though. Vettori is excellent, one of the best. But who's gonna bowl the rest of the overs?

Oram, Butler, O'Brien, Mills, Nathan McCullum will share the rest of the workload.

NZ team should look like:

1. Brendon McCullum
2. Ryder
3. Guptill
4. Taylor
5. Styris
6. Oram
7. Nathan McCullum
8. Mills
9. Vettori
10. Butler
11. O'Brien

I would take Franklin over Styris hes a better batsman and bowler but otherwise I agree with the rest if the team.

Are you joking?

Franklin better than Styris that must be a joke.

Yep, I'm scared of that lineup but not so much of the bowling. Batting lineup looks powerful though. I think one of the 3 left armers probably misses out and at this stage it would be Zaheer Khan. That would mean Praveen would play and just decide between Zaheer/Ohja for the last bowling spot. Ohja definitely if playing the Aussies

Okay this would be a formidable one.

We wont need an extra batsman in Irfan when we have five formidable batsmen and a genuine all rounder in Yusuf. We may switch between Ojha and Ishant/Irfan based on the conditions.
We wont need Rohit and Jadeja until a player in this XI is injured(Hope it doesnt happen).

MY India T20 Line-up

Sehwag
Gambhir
Raina
Yuvraj
Dhoni
R.Sharma
Yusuf(god)
Harbhajan
Irfan/Ishant(Irfan will bat higher than bhajji if he plays)
Zaheer(depends on his fitness)
Rp Singh

This will be the best lineup
i think they should stick with ishant
the neglish pitches will surely assist Ishant....RP is quite famous in england to swing the ball
The bowling for of Rohit,Raina, yusuf, yuvraj is enough to fulfil the quota 0f the 5th bowler and more incase 1 of the bowlers goes for more runs
battin looks very strong

Batting:
Franklin averages 34 @ 147
Styris averages 22 @ 125

As for Styris' bowling he is nothing but a pie chucker now. During the state T20 he played 5 games going for 10 an over and only picking up one wicket.

Franklin is also a better fielder.

Styris is so far past his best, to be honest I would even select Broom and Diamanti in the starting 11 before him.

Ishant Sharma is hardly our best bowler at the moment. In T20 Balaji is better option than Ishant. Hes got attitude in his head which he should get sorted out.
Also he has poor T20 career.

Ishant is now facing the slippery period after all the fame he got. This period will show how he shapes up and out of it. But he should be given more chances in future in T20's. His pace and bounce are an asset on any pitch

I don't think Styris should be playing at all, he is well past his best. It's funny because I think that had he stayed playing test cricket he would still be a regular in the New Zealand team. But in saying that I don't think Franklin will be in the first team, unless he is playing well for his county. Nathan McCullum will fill that lower-allrounder position.

Actually I probably agree with that.

1. Brendon McCullum
2. Ryder
3. Guptill
4. Taylor
5. Oram
6. Broom
7. Nathan McCullum
8. Mills
9. Vettori
10. Butler
11. O'Brien

Plus we wont need Styris to bowl as we already have 7 better bowlers. Therefore Broom is a better Hitter and deserves the shot.

unless he is playing well for his county.

Ah but he is, even his OD bowling seems to have come good (The weakest part of his game). Hes played 3 games got 8 wickets at an average of 12 with a rpo of 3.62. Also got 50 not out last night to bring Gloucestershire home. In the championship he has an average of 14.8 as well although he has been injured for a good part of that.

Add his new found batting ability to that and you might well have a Chris Cairns replacement.

Overall I am fairly happy with the squad outside of Styris and think they have a great chance of winning it.

Not quite Chris Cairns hes not a match winner yet.

Franklin just needs to be confident and he good do anything.

Ishant can still be effective in England conditions,

  1. Sehwag
  2. Gambhir
  3. Raina
  4. Yuvraj
  5. Dhoni
  6. Yusuf Pathan
  7. R. jadeja
  8. Praveen
  9. Harbhajan
  10. Zaheer
  11. Ishant

This would be my line up!
