well 17% of the world are Indians and the best thing they can do now is carry a kinfe or a gun with them and if anyone want beat them up then just show your gun and thats it.

We can't blame the whole nation it's just handful youths bashing Indian student. i have some of my friends relatives in Aus. they never had a word of racism and brutalization done to them. hold a trap catch those people and punish them severely. Shocked after hearing so much cases of attack!

I hold a place in the rally, i m with them. to make this people understand and take action against the culprits and not against protesters

The rally was well organised and designed to bring to notice the fact that a number of Indian students had been subjected to assault robbery. One big problem is that Indian students may be seen as easy targets of opportunity by the dickhead crims. Some students have also been subjected to racist taunts by their attackers, but this appears to be more a belated action as opposed to a pre-meditated attack based on race.
Indian students are probably aware of racist elements in Australia, just as they'd be aware of the same in other countries. Racism does exist here and I don't think we're on our own in the world with that affliction.
What I'd like to see is that the bonehead thugs who carry out these attacks get sent to say, Mumbai, and the locals be told who they are. My preference is for them to use Gray Nicholls bats but I guess G&M or Kookaburra would be fine as well. The local police would also be instructed to turn a blind eye to what subsequently happens.

I just love how quickly those effigies are produced whenever someone gets targetted as a bad boy. Kevin Rudd? Maybe because of his nerdish looks and ridiculous laugh.

As far as the student-bashing thugs are concerned I'd pefer it if they were used as decoy targets in Afghanistan.

But what I'm saying is that because everybody requires weapons for their safety, we see more violence in Pakistan.

Normally, we would be suspicious of any ordinary person in the streets with a gun. Now its normal - harder to identify potential terrorists?

Of course, in NWFP, it isn't normal for people to be carrying guns, but when the same spreads to Islamabad, then well, there is a problem.

As I said in the other thread, going into the western suburbs of Melbourne is asking for trouble. Most of these attacks aren't racially motivated, and crime is everywhere.

It's a bit of a generalisation but it's unfortunately a somewhat accurate one. The majority of crime in Melbourne is caused by ethnic minorities.
