Now tell me he isn't a chucker?!

Yes, in that final bowl he clearly throws it. I know that the super slow-mo exaggerated it, but its still a throw.

How can you tell its not 50 degrees? Did you have a protractor on the screen? Nah, but seriously, he extends the arm more then 15 degrees on some balls, and that is illegal.

There is hardly any straightening if you focus on his elbow, its all in the wrist.

Yeah, he has a rubbery wrist it looks like its in the wrist in that part - and the angle made it look less worse.

As you say, the evidence is quite clear. As the description on the video says: "This video shows the profound elbow jerk to be an optical illusion at the speed our eyes can process"

Yeah of course the description is going to say that - the video was uploaded by Sri Lankans

From watching the video the interesting thing is the amount of rotation at the shoulder which appears to make the arm jerk at the elbow.

Hooper - I think you need to take the "I hate Murali because he's going to beat Warne's record" glasses off, and watch the video again. He clearly is not chucking in any of those clips.

That was interesting. It's amazing that time and time again it is proved that Murali doesn't chuck, and yet some people (mainly from Australia) still refuse to accept the evidence.

That's about right. Clearly he does not chuck it in those videos, and the explanation is very valid and seems reasonable. He is one of the greatest and once some people can see past a loophole in which they can ignore what he has done, the better.

I dont hate Murali. I dont hate Murali. I dont hate Murali.

You get it? I dont care that his record is going to be beaten. I just have a problem when the rules are stretched to the limits then bended for a player so that he can still play. I used to think of Murali as my favourite player after seeing bowl in 2003 or something - he got me bowling Off Spin! I just woke up and realized that he is basically a cheat, even though he cant help it, and I cant stand cheating in Sports.

You can have your opinion on whether he chucks or not, but I dont really give a rats ass on your opinion. Because you dont read what people are saying and jump on them.

Im through with this chucking business. He throws the ball in my opinion.

Chucking is bending and straightening the arm. You never see Murali with a straight arm when he's bowling? Its always bend to some degree, which is no fault of his.

My opinion is that he doesn't chuck. It's also a fact that he doesn't chuck!

Exactly. It's a shame that some people can't understand the difference between a bent elbow and a bending elbow.

Hooper if we went to a zero tolerance policy on players who broke the previous rule then teams would be based around a quartet of dibbly-dobbly medium pacers struggling to hit 70mph. Unless of course we introduced other methods of bowling.

With the right footage it's possible to make most bowlers appear as they though throw - I've been privy to a bio-mechanical test and it's amazing just how much undetected movement the body goes through when playing sport not least when bowling, which is far from a natural action for the body to undertake.

Murali has passed numerous ICC inspections so until more advanced methods of detection come in and prove otherwise, he's legal.

Yes, the rule was changed but only because the ICC realised that there was a whole potential can of worms waiting to be opened due to the high percentage of players who broke the existing laws.

Though it's a low one, let's not forget that a certain Australian was banned for drug use and got off very lightly (when compared to other sports). After all a cheat is a cheat, right?

This is chucking to some extent, i'm not sure if its over 15 degrees.

He took a weight-loss tablet.

Looks likes nearly 80 degrees there.

Ofcourse some balls Murali, technically, will chuck. Especially towards the end of a day in tests! It was proved before the laws changed that bowlers like Brett Lee where prone to "chucking," towards the end of a long hard day.

Murali doesn't chuck as a lot of people have said, although he comes close at times, he is well within the boundries. I dont see why Hooper your shouting from the rooftops about Murali when fact alone beats your arguement, never mind countless videos etc.

Same with people saying about Lasith Malinga and a few others, if they chuck, they'll get found out, Murali has been proven to be within the laws, so why keep banging on about it, and it may sound bad but it is mostly Australians who bang on about it. I rarely hear a word from English folk, that could be me though, hes a bit of a legend round Lancashire :p

The only thing with those photos is that are you sure that the arm hasn't rotated at the shoulder, therefor masking the fact that it's bent in both pictures just that the angle obscures it??

I would say that in the top left picture the elbow is turned towards the left as you look at it but its more underneath the arm in the bottom right. I've put a red dot where I think the 'point' Humero-ulnar joint is, to illustrate better.

He took a weight-loss tablet.

Weight loss tablet? A diuretic in all but name then. Ask yourself why they are banned, couldn't be that they are used to help flush things out of the body?

Regardless of what it was or the reason behind doing so, he still broke the laws and if we take the same approach as you do towards to Murali then he's a cheat. However, I think we've now ascertained our individual points of view on that one so back to the matter of the little bloke from Sri Lanka.

Im a Hampshire fan and even i think that Warne's a cheat!

In the second photo his elbow is facing the camera, as Tom indicates, so you can't get an accurate measure of the angle. The angle drawn on the first picture is clearly exaggerated too! Besides, it is three dimensional information converted into two dimensions. It is always hard to judge. This is why scientific tests measure everything in 3 dimensions. And on those, Murali passes. That's scientific testing Hooper. Or are you saying you don't give a "rats ass" about scientific fact either?
