General Cricket Discussion

It is indeed surprising. For a person who has spoken out regarding Test cricket to fall behind. Note that Kohli has played around 115 Test games. I agree Root has played 30 more games, but even then, Virat wouldn't be in a position to be at 12k ,if he played the same Tests as Root.

Inducting Neetu David into the ICC Hall of Fame is a joke really. If the ICC continues this way, the next entrant might as well be Ather Ali Khan

Stats are mediocre at best! There are far better women cricketers who should have been included instead.

Second highest Indian wicket taker in ODIs at an average of 16.34 (the best average for a player with 100 wickets or more). If that's mediocre what is hall of fame worthy?

In Icyman scale you are good if your average is less than 10 and you can be inducted in HoF when your average is less than 5.

It seems a forced inclusion really. It is more like Naimur Rehman getting inducted by virtue of being the 1st Bangla Test skipper. Neetu David never really set the stage on fire and wasn't even instrumental in forcing many wins.
  • No World Cup wins
  • Poor Performance in World Cups
  • Can only take wickets on spin friendly tracks
A mere look at the Hall of Fame shows some real stalwarts of the game- I am afraid, the above doesnt justify this lady's inclusion. Seems more like a Jay Shah move to have a few Indians on the list. In all fairness, some one like Shakib should be there- he has consistently topped the all-rounder rankings, was stellar in the 2019 World Cup, has led his team to many wins as well.

If they wanted a woman cricketer, there are many options they can choose from.

A group called "Shakibians" chanted slogans, demanding Shakib be reinstated in the Test squad, but was chased away by another group in the presence of security forces

Barbarians have some competition

This is definitely not worthy of its own thread, but Marlon Samuels' early career is genuinely baffling.

His first first-class century came in his 13th Test match, which was also his 29th first-class match, passing his previous best of 84 against Zimbabwe A in 2001. At that point in his career, he had played only three times for Jamaica with a high score of 21.

On the same tour, he then notched up his maiden List A century, which came in his 36th ODI match out of 57 total List A matches, passing his previous best of 68 which was also in an ODI (against Zimbabwe). He had been very consistent in his 15 List A games for Jamaica up to this point, only failing to pass 40 five times in 15 games but also never making more than 59 not out.

Can you imagine what social media would be like if you had someone start their career that way today?

Rutherford and Motie just 14 runs away from a record 9th wicket ODI partnership
