Monday 14th August

What a day. The best piece of news I have received all summer and an awesome mention in the paper. I feel alive for the first time since the Essex under 16 trials. The day I went to Chelmsford and failed to gain selection in the side depressed me beyond belief and killed all the confidence I had built up during the season.

Since then I have played great cricket, enjoyed myself, made runs and taken wickets. To finally see all my efforts pay of with a back page mention gives me more confidence than anything.

Second and maybe even more importantly selection for the Easton Cricket Club first X1 tour to Scotland. I got the letter from the head coach Louis Coles giving information about the tour and after weeks of waiting for the decision I am going.

Tuesday 16th August

Another awesome day, after two summer holiday weeks of no cricket apart from down the nets with my younger brother and a few mates I got to go to the Ipswich School indoor nets and have an intense day of training with the club side.

We had a long net session and being the youngest player I am normally treated like a bit of a bitch. This didn?t seem to be the case today and when I bowled captain and opening batsmen Suren 4 times during the first net session including a nick of my wrong-un I felt on top of the world bowling well throughout the day getting turn and bounce beyond my imagination.

When it was my turn to bat I felt good and went into the third net. With the squad being made up of 4 spinners including myself, a medium pacer and fast bowler Rossco i knew that I was going to have to get used to facing the turn.

After about 15 minutes of batting I felt good although leg spinners of connor rawlings were really troubling me and Rossco was building up some good pace. The highlight of of my net was putting Tom Baker right back over his head for six. Although he?s not the best bowler it felt good to hit that well.

The day ended with a fielding session and I overall felt very good with how It went. With only 4 days till we leave I am pumped and ready for a serious tour.

Louis said the fixtures would be sent out tomorrow and the finalized squad would be there.

This is the first update sorry for the size of writing and lack of pictures.
trust me more will come and it will get better and better
Any advice welcome
Thanks guys
Squad and Fixtures for tour will be posted soon

Wednesday 17th August

Today was one of those days, nothing really happened and I only got out of bed to get the post and the vital letter from Louis. Matt Baker rang me up and asked if I fancied a net but I was honest and said I couldn?t be bothered. With only 3 days till the first game in Scotland I was feeling tired and knew I had to get sleep before the tour.

Later however I did answer a phone call with enthusiasm as Sarvesh Mali rang me and asked if I fancied going out for a drink that evening. He said Rossco and Tommy Carr were going with him but I fancied some sleep and decided to turn the opportunity.

So with only a few days to go I feel tired but excited and am looking forward to the tour unbelievably.

Lol, im number 11? :S
I thought I put down opening :P

Innes this is for the first game, its 50 overs and Sarvesh (Gamer) played better in the nets!!!

You bowled well though and will get some overs.
there are 4 games after that so dont worry

I didn't get selected. Owww. Nice story though.

iloveireland you didnt give me your details...if you give ur batting position and bowling style (if you bowl)
then you will get a game for an opponent

Matty Baker YOU are keeper

Thanks for the comments guys please keep them coming

lol thats cool
just abit confused coz the fast bowler is opening, and the opening batsman is number 11 ;)
