IPL 18 Apr - Kochi Tuskers Kerala vs Chennai Super Kings

After Kochi beating Mumbai (and also Chennai losing to Punjab), Chennai would do well if they dont under rate Kochi. Its also an away game for Chennai and so, they need to be quite careful. Wish Doug Bollinger comes back into the team in for Albie Morkel. Hussey has seamlessly fitted into the side as opener again. Randiv bowled really well last game (2 wkts and only 6 runs economy), so he should be retained.

Chennai v Kochi- the game which I hate the most:p.

I don't like both the regions due to the "more humidity" in those regions. When I visited Chennai, Sweat, dust, heat... Yuk.. literal hell! Kochi provided me a similar experience though. Its just like "Royal Challengers Bangalore v Deccan Chargers", the two states which have language with almost same language writing style, many similarities in languages. Should be a good contest.

In cricketing ties, Kochi belongs to Plate division whereas Chennai belongs to super league in Ranji's. So. no previous rivalries. I'm looking forward for some on-field controversies :D.

PS: Brendon McCullum's 158* was on April 18th, 2008!
Lets hope he smashes another similar knock tomorrow ;).

Kochi Tuskers Kerela should win this game & again opt to bowl after winning toss.

CSK have learnt their lesson from the Punjab defeat that never underestimate your opponent, especially in a T20 match where even a Zimbabwe can beat an Australia or India. Now Kochi must be on a high after their win against Mumbai, so I am guessing it will be back to usual business for them where they again start losing.:D:yes

Yeah, as if the audience of the game will experience the conditions of each region while watching the game.:rolleyes Its not Chennai's or Tamil Nadu's fault that its hot and humid there. The South is always hot, the North is most often cold.

Expecting a clash between Sree kuttan and Dhoni (that is if Sree kuttan plays!).. Expect Dhoni to pounce on him.:D

Rooting for Kochi but expecting Chennai to win this. Should be fairly easy for them, all they need to do is dismiss McCullum quickly.

I doubt it's Albie on the chopping block, he gives the team good balance and an extra slogger if Dhoni fails. It's going to come down to Doug vs Randiv for each game, just depending on what type of bowlers Dhoni wants. If Doug gets to play though he might overtake Southee and become the spearhead again.

And does anyone know VVS' health? Got him in my fantasy side, but his back might still be bad. Might be time to drop him.

I am with Chennai Super Kings for this game. But Kochi might upset once again. Hoping for Muralitharan to play against CSK.

McCullum score or not, but I am sure Ravindra Jadeja will perform for sure. He only plays well in IPL, but not for India. :facepalm

TBH, I hate even Visakhapatnam due to the reason being its costal place:yes. For the people who stay at Chennai/Kochi, they're habituated. But for people like me, if at all I go to the match, I'll commit suicide :yes. I went to a match at Visakhapatnam (Dhoni 148* one), I thought of dying whereas my cousins were enjoying! And come to Hyderabad/atleast Bengaluru, Hyderabad/Bengaluru<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<Chennai (in Humidity terms) :yes. I can bear the heat, but not humidity :).

Sree 'Kuttan' v Dhoni'an' :p

@ Binnu: Whatever! I still don't understand how that leads you to hate the team(s) concerned. Anyways, your call (hate can have so many silly reasons):p

Edit: Kochi win toss and bowl! Dougie Bollinger is in for Suraj Randiv. So today we have a bowling trio of Bollinger, Southee and Morkel. Good, now Morkel can bowl during the non-Powerplay overs and Bollinger/Southee open the bowling. With Ashwin and Jakati still in there for the spin, this sounds a good lineup. Hopefully it executes well.

65-2 from 9 overs is not a bad score at all. Rain playing spoilsport right now, but it could also help in giving more assistance to bowlers in the latter part of the match.

I hope for a McCullum special , another match winning performence

18th April 2008 - Brendon McCullum produced a scintillating innings in the first match of Indian Premium League (IPL). Playing for Kolkata Knight Riders against Bangalore Royal Challengers scored a blistering 158 off just 73 balls (including 10 fours & 13 sixes) to help Kolkata to a massive 140 run win.

So I am expecting the same hitting from him on the same date today, only if rain don't spoil the match. :thumbs

17 overs match now. Chennai need to move on quickly here because these shortened games favor the side batting second.

Edit: Need some big blows here! 40-45 runs from the last 4 must be taken if we need to get to a challenging score. D/L method will also add a few runs since we started it off as a 20 over match.

Unnecessary wicket there! Raina had a look at Dhoni and then shouted at himself (he cant shout at the captain!):D

That's a good start by Mahela- McCullum. No wicket in first 4 overs. Well played to Bollinger-Morkel.

Let's hope Sai, that Ashwin will make magic here. :p
