:):)Hey Guys

I am a captain of the u-17 district team.(Nearly up to county level) Our team is not the best. We are like the Kochi Tuskers In IPL4. We have a strong squad but don't perform the best. We have a great seamer (very fast) Couple of exception batsmen. Fast Hitter to propel innings at the end (me). Some spinners. The problem is we are going up agianst the "Mumbia Indians" of our league. And i don't know what team would be best or tactics to apply. We have a strong bowling squad and around 7-11 can bowl. I generally only use around 6 of them. The track we will be playing on is a good batting track. We are away. I don't know whether to go strong batting to use the conditons or strong bowling so i have option against them. This is my test for County cricket and if i pass i will be in he squad for Glamorgan (not the best i know). I need tactics of feild positions. How to use bowlers and what sort of target for what we should be aiming for against a strong batting squad. Help me please. Thanks

Try to Select a balance side(5Batsmen+2 Allrounders+4 Bowlers)

Since it's a good batting track , if you win the toss, opt to bat first.
put forward some total of 150-165(if it is possible)

Use only 5 good Bowlers(who are good at basics) and Rotate them for about 2 spells.one thing should be kept in mind that you need to keep your strike Bowler overs(Trustable) upto the last.

try to set fielding positions where ever the Bowler Wants or as per to your plan..

I'm Wishing you all the Best for this Match :thumbs

As you're saying its a perfect batting surface, aim 200 runs, if you bat first. Plan up the innings so that one of the opening batsmen blasts something big straightaway (and risks his wicket away right in the first over). Let that 'exceptional' batsman come down at no.3 and show his talent. Strictly instruct them that they should score 6-8 an over at any cost (say them 9, they'll end up scoring 6-7:p)! Let them play good cricket till 15 overs (one suggestion here, the one who is very close with that 'exceptional' batsman should be your opener, apart from the one who is risking his wicket). After 15 overs, they've spread their wings and try hitting a six or two boundaries per over (at the cost of their wicket:yes). You should know what the rest should do (dumb slog)!

Do note that while bowling, use that spearhead for just one over! (You cannot really expect wickets from him cause its a good batting surface). Make the bowlers bowl ECONOMICALLY, rather than trying for wickets till 14th over (the required rate must be somewhere near 10-12 at the end of 14th over). If they manage to keep their wickets, then you should probably do the same till a wickets cause if you try to pick up wickets for those batsmen in that situation, they'll just hit the balls out of stadium. When the new batsmen come in, make them bowl the wicket taking deliveries, with someone putting few sling deliveries randomly, which distracts the batsmen's concentration. Make that 'great seamer' bowler bowl right from 12th over (12th, 14/16th, 18th and 20th).

Even if you field first, don't get things messed up, especially don't show the frustration, even if the opponents score something at a big rate. Try restricting them to 160!

Good luck for the game though:):thumbs.
