I reckon India vs Sri Lanka final, with Bangladesh and Pakistan as the other semi finalists. There will also be some really surprising upsets as there always is at world cups. I just think that home conditions will be really vital..

Though the Aussies cannot be written off, to think of them as potential champions is a thought that my mind just does not accept. The QF stage-definitely, but beyond that could very well be tough for them, unless what you predict does actually come true- Saf v Aus as a semi wherein they will once again choke

Ashes will have a massive influence I reckon. Aussies will either be super deflated and England will be on an all time high or it will be flipped and Australia will be pumped and England brought back to Earth a little. If Ashes go Australia's way, I can see them bouncing back big. But if it's England... they will be as confident as ever and I think they will have the momentum to win it.

You can never tell with India, ever. Especially with our drastic imbalance in the team and usually bad team selection in ODIs. If guys like Ravinder Jadeja and Munaf Patel etc are in the squad we have no hope. I'd personally like to see Uthappa back. My XI would be something like

Harbhajan/Ashwin (never gonna happen, but one can hope)

I'm digging the pace trio and a good spinner to back it up will be enough. Raina/Yuvraj/Sehwag can get through 10 overs easy enough I reckon. Slots 3-7 are completely fluid and brings massive depth and flexibility to the batting order.

I'm going to put my money on SA...Amla is going to have a dream run I thin

Was just browsing that site and was shocked and couldn't believe my eyes at first lol, well can't comment on the authenticity of the news but it is a genuine news site. But I'm sure ICC would not take such a step just ahead of the World Cup.

I would say that the players are stupid. Why sign up for competitors when you know full well that this will create some problems in the future ?

As pointed out by Sai, the same thing had cast a shadow in 2003.

Agreed that players are getting paid a bit more. However for an event, as important as the WC- you should sacrifice for your country.

Cricinfo and Indiatimes Cricket doesnt talk anything about this possible ban for Dhoni and Sachin. The only people talking about it is that site above whose link is posted. I will start giving it seriousness if Cricinfo talks about it.
