Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Virender Sehwag, Sachin Tendulkar, Gautam Gambhir, Virat Kohli, Yuvraj Singh, Suresh Raina, Harbhajan Singh, Zaheer Khan, Ashish Nehra, S Sreesanth, Munaf Patel, Ishant Sharma, Vinay Kumar, M Vijay, Rohit Sharma, Ravindra Jadeja, Ajinkya Rahane, Saurabh Tiwary, Yusuf Pathan, Parthiv Patel, R Ashwin, Wriddhimaan Saha, Dinesh Karthik, Shikhar Dhawan, Amit Mishra, Piyush Chawla, Cheteshwar Pujara, Pragyan Ojha, Praveen Kumar.


I don't see any reason why Irfan Pathan haven't been picked while the domestic inexperienced players like Ajinkya Rahane, Shikhar Dhawan, W Saha, etc. have been given a place in the preliminary squad while an experienced pacer Irfan Pathan haven't been given a place?I don't know why he is been so underrated by BCCI selectors.He deserves to be at least a part of the preliminary squad!With Irfan Pathan, experienced batsman- Rahul Dravid was also not given a place in preliminary squad.I really feel for both of them.But what can we do?

Dravid was anyway not going to be picked in the final 15. So I guess it makes sense that the selectors dont insult the legend by picking him in the 30 and then not picking him in the 15. About Irfan Pathan, it seems he is having some injury and he has been missing the initial Ranji trophy games. And also, he has done nothing of note in recent times in domestic cricket to warrant a selection.

The rest, its automatic.

^The boards have to finalize the 15 man squads by January 19 which is a bit harsh tbh, it gives little time for the teams in the Southern Hemisphere to practice as most of the international cricket occurs around this time and the chances for players to prove themselves are few.

We know that. There could be a case of someone not seeing if the actual thread exists. Not the right place to vent out your anti-India frustrations.

You would be wrong to pick Parthiv on the basis of his performances against a poor NZ team,that too, when India had the unassailable lead in the series. I'd still pick KKD.

Dinesh Karthik is obviously a better and a safer option for the world cup.

Parthiv has been a run machine in domestic scene. What has Karthik done to be picked? Parthiv is just underestimated, I think.

Check last 2 domestic seasons, Parthiv is our best option for a backup keeper.
KKD is such a fail at INT. level and he had done nothing to be picked ahead of Patel.

I'd love to see Pujara make it to the final 15. I'd pretty much pick the same squad as Akshay but just fit in Pujara somewhere.

I was going to pick either of Rahane or Pujara in place of Yousuf but though we atleast need a allrounder despite the fact he can't do much.

KKD is such a fail at INT. level and he had done nothing to be picked ahead of Patel.

Indians are known to be heavy run-machines in their domestic arena,but they eventually fail at the top level. KKD has atleast played in a few international matches.

Parthiv has been in the reckoning only recently-during the India NZL series where he scored a 50 against a poor attack. If he were to be in the reckoning, the selectors would have given him more chances over the last one year, but I do not see anything of that sort happening.

By your logic we ought to select the top run-scorers and top wicket takers in the domestic arena and put them in the squad. Thats preposterous.

I have mentioned this earlier and will do so now too- Parthiv is in the side only cause he struck a good chord with MSD during his days at CSK. MSD's favorites tend to get selected automatically, in case you haven't noticed that as yet.
