4 teams

We have a Super 12 this time and not a Super 10
Pity then! Sri Lanka still have a chance!

Based on current form, I'd be happy to not to see them in the main draw for the event.

Afghanistan's batting has been a major disappointment for them off late. Probably because of the fact that Mohammed Shahzad no longer gives them those ridiculous cameos that he did in that 2016 WT20. On a Sharjah pitch this becomes a big worry for them. All it depends upon the venue they play. West Indies would still get an equal chance if they are playing at Abu Dhabi. I think Dubai is where Afghanistan would be a better side because of the slowness of the pitch.

Afghanistan tend to screw it up before every ICC event. In CWC 2019, they could have won 2-3 games, had Asghar Afghan been in charge. This time again, they've changed their captain.

A change at the top defines the team strategy and I wouldn't be surprised if they fare badly. In the lead up to the WT20, they have very few games. New faces, new combinations do take time to work and I doubt it will work for Afghanistan.

I wont deny that they are a good team; they just need an inspirational leader or some direction. Nabi, Afghan, Nawroz Mangal were great guys who charted their path fro the bottom most rung of the ICC Leagues unto where they are today. Would be really sad to see them go the SRL way.
MS Dhoni deserves a farewell for this WT20 2021. . He is the greatest wicketkeeper of all time. He should be selected and be in First XI ahead of Rishabh Pant. Dhoni's experience alone puts him ahead of Pant. Also, Pant is only a Test player. He can only defend and does not do well in limited overs cricket or IPL.

In my 15+ years on this forum, I never came across such people. My sincere request to the mods highers up to ban you/ not to ever allow such people into the fold.

This forum is meant for rational cricketing debates and not for listening to your rant about how MSD deserves a farewell. Anyone who has followed cricket in the last few years knows that MSD has retired from the game and that there's no way back for him (there's no place in the team unless you go on emotional trips and fit him like you did in CWC2019)

Kindly refrain from bringing up such topics. If you still wish to satisfy your cravings, I suggest you find the thread on MSD's retirement and rant about the same in that one.

How dare you insult Dhoni like this..People like you are the reason India doesn't do well in ICC tournaments. MS Dhoni is my god. Do you have any respect for legends?

You will say no to Dhoni but then hype unexperienced players for important matches who will cost India tournaments. Dhoni is the smartest and most experienced cricketer in history

This is exactly the kind of verbal diarrhoea that people spew on Twitter. Kindly maintain a civil, rational tongue here. Continued persistence may force me to report you for this illogical rant.

Plus, MSD has retired from the game- Or are you living in a fantasy world where he is still the captain of the team. Please grow up with the changing times.

Pant : has a higher run per innings by more than 4 and also strikes much quicker than the 'experienced' replacement.

Also Pant : "does not do well in IPL".

To add to this Dhoni post 2017 has been over-rated in T20Is. He had terrific seasons in 2018 & 2019 IPL but his Indian form is now visible in IPL as well.

Most runs in IPL 2017-2019 (3 seasons)

1. Rishabh Pant (1538)
2. Shikhar Dhawan (1497)
3. Virat Kohli (1302)
4. Suresh Raina (1270)
5. KL Rahul (1252)

I know Pant's performance was very bad in 2020 but now he has got his old form back.

He is the greatest wicketkeeper of all time
Kumar Sangakkara? Adam Gilchrist?

He should be selected and be in First XI ahead of Rishabh Pant
Do you really want Dhoni in the Indian team who has average of 21 and strike rate of 117 since IPL 2020 (which is worse than Cummins and Curran)?

Sorry if this post offended anyone :(

1. He was trolling about Pant. Don't feed him.
2. Sangakkara and Gilchrist are not close to being the best wicketkeepers in test history. Great batsmen yes, but they are not in the mix for best wicketkeeper. If it's about wicketkeeper batsmen then Gilchrist is close, possibly not good enough with the gloves though but that is a matter of opinion. Sangakkara averaged massively higher without the gloves, decent keeper though.
3. Dhoni is overrated. He is a gun keeper (with the gloves) but has been generally overrated with the bat I'm afraid in all formats. Still a good player, but T20 clearly his weakest format, more specifically T20I. Still has strong all round stats, but his weakness is knowing when to accelerate which he almost always leaves too late.
