2022 ICC Men's T20 World Cup - Australia

I think this is surely a balanced XI? With Jadeja not there, Axar Patel should play most matches as an AR because of his improved batting. One of Ashwin and Chahal can play if the conditions are such

That's the point, aint it? Axar should play most.of the games as he is a like -for-like replacement.

Now, the way the management plays these guys is highly questionable. The reason why I said we are unbalanced is cause we haven't found that ideal XI to field in a majority of our games. Attribute this to KL, VK missing from a majority of bilaterals. That certainly jeopardized a somewhat set line up.

3 keepers yet again-yet we don't know our Numero Uno. Just 6 games to go, we can't be this uncertain.

Two more team announcements. I am very happy that the West Indies didnt consider Russell and Narine here. You cannot simply play league crickt and ignore national duy throughout the year, only to turn up for the World Cups.

On the other end, Bangladesh too named their team. As expected, there's no room for Mahmudullah. Still feel, this selection is more Nazmul-driven more than anything else.

Today Pakistan will announce the squad.

I don't know why would West Indies bring back the likes of Devon Thomas after almost a decade and then throw him out for someone like Johnson Charles who is more or less the player of same caliber!

Sometimes I feel that Shakib somehow always got more importance then Mahmudullah did in Bangladesh.

Honestly thought Narine had retired from international cricket and even the fast food leagues. I mean cant blame a guy for making a living to take care of his business. Countries other than India have this issue since IPL inception.

They knew...

Just gonna summarize a few of my thoughts on the multiple squads selected recently over here.

  • It's good that West Indies have moved on from Russell and Narine. I wish they also moved on from Lewis who still hasn't appeared for that fitness test as far as I know but I suppose he has a central contract and they don't want that to go to waste. Cariah may have not played a lot of T20s but he impressed me in his recent international games and at this point I'd rather take anyone over Walsh jr. Charles seems to have gotten in just because he is in good nick in the CPL now whilst Thomas' recent domestic exploits have all been halted by him coming up short internationally again. This team is better than last year's museum showpiece of a team they assembled and I believe they should do better than Zimbabwe and Ireland and anything else would be a total failure.
  • Masood deservedly gets into the squad and should be a playing XI member ideally. I'm not completely sold on Azam Khan's capability to rotate strike and handle quality pace but he is their best batter against spin in the middle overs so I suppose he could have been worth a shout especially with Iftikhar and Khushdil in the squad offering more of the same thing. No idea what's happened between Imad Wasim and Babar but the former could have also been a part of the squad ahead of Khushdil for me even if him and Nawaz are duplicates of each other (just think Axar and Jadeja being in the same squad). I do believe there is a decent player in Khushdil somewhere but I'm not sure if he'll play to that standard. Qadir though, why?
  • Thank goodness Bangladesh have dropped Mahmudullah and have dropped Anamul with Naim. This should hopefully mean Litton plays as the opener which is where he belongs. Shoriful had been in poor form in the past but I still would have taken him ahead of Ebadot as the entire team was poor at that time. Still don't expect much from them given their antique playing style and lack of firepower. Don't like Mehidy suddenly entering into the T20I frame of things too, seems unplanned for an established player in the other two formats and highlights muddled squad selection and questionable role preference.
  • Afghanistan have finally dropped Shinwari and Janat! Less of that nepotism and more of deserved selections like this one please. Rasooli has to be in the playing XI given the paucity of batting depth but I doubt Ibrahim Zadran will be of use on Aussie surfaces (unless they continue remaining on the slower side). Qais returning is a good choice too as he has that BBL experience and is a quality spinner even otherwise. Watch out for 20 year old Saleem, the lad is quick and I belive he will usurp a place in the playing XI if the conditions are conducive to his style.

Honestly, I haven't been able to follow much cricket outside of Pakistan lately, and your posts do a great job with catching me up with other nations
