At that point it really wasn’t to be honest
I don't recall the alternatives (I only remember he replaced Rayadu courtesy the "3D" comment) but surely you're not suggesting that he was our best bet among all the other available options?

Wouldn't Washington Sundar be a good replacement for Pandya? Unless they really feel the need for a pace bowling all rounder - those mentioned are not a patch on Pandya, as a bowler I think.

Siraj Miya, wtf are you doing?

I'd be happy if he is injured. Can't have wayward bowling from him every match

You are really cruel. The guy has been amongst the best Indian bowlers in the past year and a half!

No! Siraj's performances are more like 'once in a bluemoon'.
He did improve as a test bowler and ought to remain as one. In limited overs, he was always erratic, bar a few good matches. Running in, bowling full steam without brains doesn't mean anything.
Hence, I've mentioned previously,Prasidh at 80% is far better.

Mahmudullah is playing a gem of a cameo here for Bangladesh. 275 on the cards here

Mate… cricinfo stats are easy to look up.

He wasn’t the best bet among all options for sure. However he was arguably one of the better ones in the feasible list of options.

At that point he had a few encouraging performances in the top order in white ball cricket and was part of a good rescue job against New Zealand. Rayudu’s calamitous loss in form and confidence then sealed the deal. It was shoddy planning all around. His main value that the team saw was his ability to rotate strike which Kohli was supposed to benefit from.

What the hell?

Yeah, but Siraj's lines and lengths aren't mentioned anywhere on cricinfo. Pathetic from him!

In the last 2 matches, he may have picked up wickets but his performance is worse than Zaheer Khan in the 2003 Final.

We should atleast replace him with Shami.

Anything above 250 and Bangladesh should consider themselves as favorites

I’m not talking about the recent games in particular, he hasn’t been the best in them.

He has been our best bowler since 2022 though. You don’t get to that stage with pathetic line and length and once in a blue moon performances. I’m not even going to look up those numbers because you’ll be dismissive of them anyway at this point.

I wouldn’t mind taking him out of the firing line for a game if his poor form persists but having Thakur in the team while he sits on the bench sounds silly. Especially if Pandya is out injured and they need all ten overs from the five remaining bowlers.
