The main thing you will learn in county cricket is how to play against 75mph bowlers hooping and nibbling the Dukes ball. At international level, it doesn't necessarily provide much basis for if you can succeed, unless you face a team of Kyle Mayers.Does the div 2 matter as much? Steve Smith and Labuschagne played in div 2 this season, Saud Shakeel didn't do much in the matches he played and he went on to become a Test mainstay

Just look at Zak Crawley. Very average county numbers but I doubt any other opener in England could've played an innings like he did at Old Trafford.
Finch, Steyn, Watson - all of the 'newly' retired cricketers have been great on the comms. Clearly more aware of the modern game than the uncles of the 90s.
Steyn was great during the T20 WC, and I have admittedly not heard much of Watson. But what I have heard of him hasn't made me wanna jam a metal rod in my ears, unlike the Rajas and Sanju Manjus of the world. Even DK, who's been doing commentary only for a few years is much more digestible than them two specifically (low bar, but still).Haven’t heard Steyn properly and Watto hasn’t really impressed me much. At the other end of the spectrum you have Morgan who hasn’t been worth much in the comms box despite being the sharpest tactical mind over the last decade or so. The most colossal prick on comms I can think of was a 2000s player too…
There’s definitely an interest from these recently retired blokes to improve their commentary game compared to the older blokes because the latter’s jobs are fairly settled.
You misspelt MuralidharanPakistan should see if Ajmal can join their squad.
Not the same as he aint Pakistani lol!You misspelt Muralidharan
Wait, that actually happened?Of course, not talking about the time he equated a cricket bat to someone's wife and said "they always feel good when they're someone else's".
