Really when you think about it, England are the current holders and there's a strong spirit of cricket argument that the final should have the current holders in it.

However England's daring Bazball batting method has now transcended the traditional paradigm of having 10 wickets so the English batting order should be updated to include every member of the England squad, plus selected members of the South African squad if required.

Has there been a more horrid shambles of a WC than Englands?

So much gone wrong , axing Roy at the last minute for Brook, Wiley getting informed he hasn’t got a contract mid tournament. The bowling line up outside of Rashid lacks any form of class or danger to good batting teams.

Livingston has been dreadful with the bay, he’s a 20/20 player at best. Bairstow and Roots form hasn’t warranted selection and they are playing Woakes and Stokes who aren’t fit and banged up.

Duckett and Crawley had great ashes series playing attacking cricket surely they could have been options in that weak batting line up?

This is why I prefer a non-group league table for World Cup. Feels like all teams have a fair shot. Also instead of semi finals, the qualifier-eliminator system of IPL would be better. More incentive to be top two in the league table.

Agree with the 1st part, not with the playoff -eliminator. This idea seems to be gaining traction amongst Indians a lot...perhaps got to do with the fact that we can't cross over the semi finals. But hey, isn't that what a World Cup should be all about? Seems like plain mockery of a format.

Tomorrow, people will start asking for a 'Best of 3 Finals' as well.

Best of 3 finals is not a bad idea actually. It is better then playoff-eliminator thing.
