Yes, but with few runs to defend, Rohit had to gamble.I wouldn't call it desperate, but changing what has worked so well is an odd move.

Could see a case for it if they were defending 160. I guess it worked but you'd want Shami in a spell now, not the player who is not in the best form.It absolutely was a desperate move based on the belief of “Shami’s in form and Siraj is not, so let’s do it”.
It was a good ploy though. The goof up in the slips and too many extras in the first 3-4 overs didn't help the cause.Them switching Shami and Siraj around was not the best of moves at all…

This is where that weird innings from Rahul and Virat will come to haunt us. Head has been brilliant and the pace is fast too, unlike out batsmen
This idea of people playing bad or weird innings cuz they have an SR <100 is so bloody dumb.
This is obviously not an easy pitch to bat on, vs 2 high quality attacks.
Even if they did that shouldn't have given him that many overs. It absolutely was a desperate move based on the belief of “Shami’s in form and Siraj is not, so let’s do it”.
Yes yes, I know the slip up was off Bumrah. Just saying that THAT too didn't do good as 0-1 would have put Australia under pressure.I don’t think it was because all of those extras from Shami were a direct result of him bowling for the first time with a new ball in a while as @CerealKiller pointed out. The slip-up in the slips was off Bumrah.

Head didn’t walk in when his side was at 80-3, are you genuinely trolling at this point? The natural comparison would be Labu and he’s been way worse than Rahul. Head’s current SR is also much worse than Kohli’s at the same stage.
