Eden Gardens after the 1996 semifinal? Seriously?
Almost three decades have passed now. And 2016 WT20 finals also happened there where we saw Carlos 'remember the name' Braithwaite magic . Unfortunately India were knocked out in Semis by Windies itself

Yes, the crowds rally behind. Ahmedabad was silent.it was only vocal during the Ind VPak game. Very weird and uncouth from the crowd today.

They are at best good for a Quarter final, not anything above that.

Sure, but that was the most disgraceful exhibition by any crowd in India forcing the match to stop, and awarded to SL. Should not be forgiven or forgotten easily.

Real sadness is yet to come... whether Pak fail or succeed in Aus, CK loses as a Pak supporter and Shan Masood skeptic
The thing is obviously we Indian fans are sad and depressed cause it keeps happening but heck I am proud of this squad including the coach and support staff. Also no other team except Australia has come close to tasting success like this in years and yet their fans are the ones who the most happy and sadistic.

Pehle apni team ki halat dekho, fir dusro par haso!

First look at your own team, then laugh at others.

I think you missed the fact that we already had a World Cup Final in 2016 in Eden Gardens

Mate I watched the entire game from start till finish. Can't help if you want to side with those 2 stat padders,it is your choice after all. For me, they will always be the villains of this game. Seriously lost all respect, given their antics and the fact that they hogged the limelight for their own selfish needs.

Sincerely hope they don't play in CT 25 and after...

I don't get what your theory is on this to be honest. They could have chosen to hit out and be aggressive and still chose not to because they were selfish... for what purpose? So that fans can throw brickbats at them like you're doing now? If you did watch the game you would have seen Cummins bowling exceptionally well, I don't even think prime Viv is going to be freely scoring off that. There was a slow dipping yorker that would have castled nearly every other batter on the planet which was barely turned into a single by Kohli for example. This feels like a "why didn't they just score centuries, are they stupid?" type of argument. You've even agreed that batting was easier in the second innings and that it's easier to pace an innings whilst chasing. I'm not siding with them on this either and I'm not sure why you keep reducing every disagreement into a versus thing honestly, I called out Rahul's lack of strike rotation and people here were defending him at that point let alone on r/cricket. The only other criticism was them letting Zampa and the sixth bowlers get away with their overs which I also pointed out.

We aren't going to agree on this so fair enough if you feel they cost us the game. A bigger worry for me is the way our heads dropped and we completely gave up once the game shifted ever so slightly away from us especially in the second innings. The same thing happened in the T20 WC last year and it's a real sign of mental weakness.

Heard that the crowd booed the umpires during the ceremony which if true is shambolic again. Between that, their lack of support unless the Indian side did something big, their lack of appreciation for Head and Cummins' effort this was a bad crowd and they shouldn't be getting another final in the next ten years. Build a bigger stadium in one of the big cities and let the next event's final be there.

Yes, I agree. This is where Dhoni excelled at his prime. A once in a lifetime captain.
