I do think the Pakistan selectors rate him a little too highly, but I also do think you tend to be too harsh on him. He's not the answer to all of Pakistan's problems, but he's also not there purely because of nepotism. Maybe knowing the right people helped, and that vice-captain situation was a fiasco, but he has a List A average over 50 and crushed it in county cricket last year, while he was decent this year.

That's exactly why I said previously that Babar is a defensive captain. Shaheen should be used in mini spells. Hasn't happened so far under Babar.

Does the div 2 matter as much? Steve Smith and Labuschagne played in div 2 this season, Saud Shakeel didn't do much in the matches he played and he went on to become a Test mainstay

Finch, Steyn, Watson - all of the 'newly' retired cricketers have been great on the comms. Clearly more aware of the modern game than the uncles of the 90s.
