If they're mathematically out of it by then, there'd presumably be no Stokes and no Wood - why risk their fitness on dead rubbers?
If South AFrica win tomorrow and Australia win on Saturday they might as well just call out Phil Salt and the boys as injuries replacements for the whole team.

Whatever happens they still have to beat India and there's no chance of that.

Wow, England have been thrashed. The only explanation for England's downfall I can think of is that Jason Roy took inspiration from Tamim and also started dabbling in some black magic, but who knows. Whatever it is, it has made the rest of the World Cup pretty interesting for the other teams.

1. How does that relate to the World Cup
2. How is that indicative of Pakistan when he's not even part of the board
3. Why tell him Morne's one of the fastest bowlers when Shoaib is THE fastest bowler
4. Of course Morne played more cricket than a guy with virtually no knees
5. Twice the respect? Get a grip man

You love bashing Akhtar, and he gives one ample ammo to do that. But at least be sensible with the criticism. Don't telegraph personal vitriol and disguise it as an opinion on his own bullshit statements.

1) He was speaking about Morkel in relation to the Pak team's performance IN the World Cup
2) It's not like the board is graced with geniuses. Do Pakistan even have a board? Last I checked they are being run ad-hoc and need to have elections. Just for the record, there are a few clowns in our neck of the woods and the one running our board is perhaps the biggest one. I am not chastising Pakistan or its board but Akhtar and the garbage he spews. He has so much power to influence people and irresponsible statements like these motivated by personal agenda become national themes. Look at Sehwag for example- He felt we should not be called India FFS.
3) Akhtar is a self proclaimed "phenom." He was fast but so was Brett Lee and even if Brett was slower by barely little he was a much much better bowler and fitter too. Morkel had an outstanding and respectful career so for Akhtat to call him 'áverage' when he was exactly that is just pathetic.
4) That isn't Morkel's issue. He didn't go and call that clown names.
5) You need to get a grip. The hero you are defending is renowned for his unprofessionalism and is currently on an India channel ridiculing your country. And YES Morkel does have twice the respect than that no good clown.

Stern words. Good points too admittedly, and annoyingly.

1) You're probably right. The way you posted it, it made it seem like he was talking about the bloke himself. That he perceived him as an average cricketer, and that that was just his opinion of the guy. But you're probably right that he's saying this in relation to Pakistan's performance in the World Cup. Besides, if he did call him average in relation to the World Cup, then it was probably his coaching and not him, the cricketer. In which case, yeah, I agree - he's average.

2) You're generalizing. Again. Shoaib Akhtar has nothing, and will have nothing to do with the way the board is run. There have always been administrative "geniuses" that have brought nothing but harm to the board, one of which currently resides as the Chairman, but to insinuate that that's all the board has in an executive capacity not so long after Mani and Wasim K's term is mind-numbingly out of touch. Akhtar can influence the board, especially now when it seems like they are at their lowest and will listen to anybody under the sun, but how is him calling Morkel average going to bring about any changes? Shouldn't take rocket science to figure out that Morkel has been extremely underwhelming and average as a coach, especially compared to Tait (our last coach), but if he can call Sarfaraz "brainless" and if he can still continue being the captain, then I would seriously doubt how much sway Akhtar in particular holds.

3) Not the point tho. Why tell him Morne was fast and good if he was that too? Yes, Morne was good for a much larger period but at his peak, he does not even compare to Akhtar. Believing otherwise is objectively wrong.

4) I don't believe I said it was Morne's issue. Morne played more cricket than a bloke with no knees. Of course Morne was gonna play more cricket than a guy with no knees. How is Akhtar's limitation his fault, and Morne having a perfectly normal career that any normal cricketer would have had something Morne should be lauded for?

5) Far be it for me to jump to my "hero's" defense just 'cause... but the legacies left behind Morne and Akhtar are vastly different. They do not compare. And as far as I remember, there aren't many stories of Akhtar being unprofessional POST his playing days. Yes, he was admittedly a hothead when he was still playing. But for a guy who heard words of insult to his face, sitting next to Sir Viv and David Gower, and instead of lashing out, walked away with grace and dignity, I'd say that was pretty professional of him. Not too mention his stint working with Star Sports, which somehow didn't result in any controversies and ended amicably.

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for having a raging hate boner for people who are irredeemable clowns, Akhtar being the chief among them, but why do you keep coming back to this over and over and over again. IIRC, five years ago you were talking about Akhtar. You are still talking about Akhtar. He's a clown, no doubt, but compare him to jingoistic fukcs who are capable of causing far greater damage than him (see: Irfan Pathan), and Shoaib's buffoonery is what you choose to harp over and over again?

I have had nothing but genuine disdain for Irfan Pathan from the moment he decided to become an absolute troll. But I believe this is the first (or maybe second, at best) time I'm posting about it. The shit he says and does under the guise of humour will incite actual hatred towards Pakistanis. And I haven't heard any Indian speak up about it. Why is it that when a Pakistani does something dumb, everyone jumps on it, but when it comes to holding someone like Irfan Pathan or Virender Sehwag accountable in the court of public opinion, everyone becomes instantly dismissive or outright refuses to comment?
