2 Questions

Is there an easy way to bend the stands or do you have to just create a few small bits of the stands and put them together at slightly different angles to create a curved look.

How do you check the polycount in 3ds Max 9

Thanks

in my opinion make your stand by spline technique,it will look great with that technique as it has given me marvelous result for my dhaka stadium

Answers to your questions are:

1) First i create the stand by box modelling, its very easy as compared to spline technique(its good for creating stands first time). Then move the vertices of the box(mesh) to make it curve.Just take care that you should not deform the shape of the stand of box(mesh)

2)To check the polcount in 3ds Max 9 press 7 in any viewport.

sorry, tanmay but i ddid not agree from you

mesh technique requires more hard work while spline technique saves your time as well as very easy

and also spline technique mostly gives a better result...

nabeel i found the mesh modelling texhnique quite useful and easy for creating stands not pavilions. When the model is a bit hard and difficult to model spline is very very useful.I had also started modelling all stands with spline but as time passed i felt box modelling was better and easy atleast for me.

I create the curves by creating one 'section' of the curve then duplicating and rotating, then joining the mesh together, and merging the vertices. Means you can put all the detail in one section, then duplicate everything and it all stays in line and stuff.

Can you tell me how you got the light to shine on the whole stadium? Your stadium looks good but you will need to work really hard on the texture since you made the whole stadium without texturing even a single stand. You should have done part by part. For example, first create the walls of the stand and then color it using rendering and then create the roof with a single plane and then texture it(simple because you just need to texture a simple square) and then attach it to the walls. You can use the bulbs paint if you are using maya 09 to make lightning glow on the lightning pole too. It looks pretty good. How did you do the lightining?

I did the lighting by adding an omni inside the blue square(flood light section),nothing else and yes texturing is a big hurdle for me now.

if you add lights on the bulb, then will it be on the day time of the game also or only in the night time
i am unable to understand whether to add lights or not...
