Discussion for the cracker opening match of Group D between heavyweights Victoria and Delhi.

Watch out for:

The Delhi top order: The exploits of Gautam Gambhir and Virender Sehwag for India at the top are well known, but Tillakaratne Dilshan has stolen the limelight this year in the Twenty20 format. An enterprising batsman, his promotion to the opening slot has worked wonders for Sri Lanka and Delhi might just go with him and Gambhir to deliver to a racy start.

Aiden Blizzard boasts a strike rate of 161.88 and will be keen to live up to his reputation as a big-hitting batsman. Shane Harwood, the fast bowler, has been excellent with the ball in this format, taking 29 wickets at 22.24 with a strike rate of 17.4. His economy rate of 7.63 is better than most.

My predicted lineup:

Delhi: Dilshan, Sehwag*, Gambhir, Karthik+, Tiwary, Shah, Bhatia, Mishra, Sangwan, Nannes, Nehra
Victoria: Hodge, Quinely, White*, Hussey, McDonald, Blizzard, Wade+, McKay/Holland, Harwood, Siddle, McGain

I'll obvisouly cheering for Victoria here as they are the Australian team. Hoping to see Siddle have a good game.

Delhi could feel the absence of Vettori. Though, I still root for them.

tight contest this...
but looking forward to lee vs symmonds..
White vs symonds :)

i'll be interested to see hodge here. all time top run scorer in twenty20, but going by the other matches it's the international players that we all know that are doing the damage.

He's hardly ever played for them, surely they have enough local talent to make up for it.

Bhatia, Sangwan, Nehra and Misra are more than useful.

And after some initial fire, Gambhir, who was pinned a little, has lost his off stump to Harwood. The low bounce was a factor there, he didn't cover it at all.

angryangy added 2 Minutes and 47 Seconds later...

Solid 90 mph bowling from Harwood, not bad for an old codger.

This is a pathetic pitch. :doh

The ball is going through all over the place, not a fair judge for a young keeper.

McKay it seems has taken a real step up this season, perhaps he will do a lot better in T20s as well. His pace seems genuine fast-medium now. I don't remember him hitting 140s ever before.

Dillu is back. I think he was afraid of Sehwag at other end.
