6th Match: India v Pakistan (Group A)

Possibly the greatest batting team / line-up of the tournament vs possibly the greatest bowling team / line-up of the tournament.

I cannot wait.

(And of course, possibly the worst bowling team / line-up of the tournament vs possibly the worst batting team / line-up of the tournament.)

lol Indian opening bowling sucks right now but its one of the best when it comes to slog overs/spin. :D Should be a great match tomorrow, like nearly all Ind/Pak games are in ICC events :D

Oh not a safe place to live. Btw, I live in JC( hudson county) the metropolitan area by NYC and Newark

lol I know, one of the highest crime rates in the country is in this place but I'm still on the borderline of the county where it goes into Gloucester where there's a fantastic, lively atmosphere.

We are not the greatest, especially without Yuvraj and Sehwag. SA are the best, and Sri Lanka are better too!

I am hoping for Dhoni to get a good score tomorrow. He loves Pakistan, and also he is due for that 'one substantial innings' which has not come in a long time. I hear whispers that Dhoni might take up the aggressor's role in the absence of Yuvraj. Lets (Indian fans) hope he does and he clicks.

Both SA and SL have lost a game :p Just shows how even ODI cricket has become will the fall of the Aussies. This game could go either way, India's batting v Pakistan bowling should decide the game although Pakistan's batting could still collapse despite chasing a small total.

The most awaited match,of this tournament is today's match, India vs Pakistan...Will be a cracker ,no doubt...

On paper Pakistan look well-balanced but its well documented how fickle the batting is. Either way i think Pakistan will win comfortably. But my heart supports India :D
Kohli at 6 and wouldn't mind having two spinners. So maybe Mishra. i don't have a clue how the pitch is though. Meh should be a great game.

Dhoni says he does not have the luxury to pick 5 bowlers and he wants to play three seamers. I wish he picks Amit Mishra, who can bat a bit too (he scored 29 off 35 balls against NZ in the warmup). Spinners are the best bet to keep the scoring down, pick wickets and keep Pakistan down to a chaseable total (or to put the brakes if they are chasing). Especially in Centurion. I wish Dhoni shows some sense in picking the squad. Even Erapallli Prasanna has suggested that Dhoni pick both spinners for tomorrow.

My heart supports India too. Dont know how it will feel if we lose tomorrow. I am gearing up for that from now itself (because thats a very likely possibility seeing the impact Yuvraj's absence has left in us).

Yeah there's no shame in conceeding we're the weaker side but it isn't a bad thing. The kiwis seems to have a permanent tag on them and they perform pretty well. I think the only way we can win is if one of our bowlers does an Angelos or really finds his straps.

My main areas of concern are our middle-order and our fast bowling lineup. Regarding the fast bowlers, better not say anything about them. As they have proved that they are nothing but a bunch of clowns. All three of them. *sigh* Yeah, our main hope lies in our spinners. And provided the condition in which our bowling lineup is in, it will be logical if Dhoni goes with both Vajji and Mishra. Because only then, if they can contain the runs in the middle overs, will we have a faint chance of restricting Pakistan to a low score. Frankly, there's not even a slightest probability of our seamers performing. The way they are bowling, even a Zimbabwe B team will whack them to the core. I sometimes wonder what V.Prasad is doing as our bowling coach. Show me one quality fast bowler equally good in Tests and ODIs who has emerged in his regime. Really BCCI, is there any need of fattening his purse every month?

Coming to our middle-order, it looks a bit fragile- even more so as Yuvraj Singh will not be playing today. His absence will indeed be a huge blow to the team.

Also, one trend I've noticed, that if our top order is collapsing quickly, our middle order is failing to balance things up- and it is falling like a pack of cards as well. You take the example of our recent collapses, during the WI series, in that NZ match, in the recently concluded tri-series- you'll see that in most of these cases, there was first a top-order collapse, and then a severe type of middle-order failure. I don't remember the last time when the likes of Suresh Raina carried the team on their shoulders all by themselves. Our main hope rests on our openers, Dhoni, and two/three other players. And this makes a good start all the more important. We need a good start, an extremely good start to keep the momentum going.

Finally, in my opinion, Pakistan looks a bit ahead. Moreover, a win in this match will mean them almost making it to the semi-finals. Naturally, their players will be greatly charged up today making things real difficult for India. Whereas we, we have nothing to lose. We got eliminated from the group stage in the previous two editions of this trophy, and people expecting us to do anything big this time are a minority. So MSD and company, just go out there and play your natural games! We are with you. Chak De!

85% Pakistan
15% India

Its Pakistan game to loose. The wicket will be like Mohali and in Mohali Pakistan have always had better of India.

@ zMario - India's batting is not strongest in tournament. Had been if we had Viru and Yuvi and fully fit Gauti.
