'A' North-South War details

What is it?

It is basically a team-based war between the two sides of the cricket world - North and South. This will be the decider of who rules cricket - the northern hemisphere countries - England, India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka or the southern part countries - West Indies*, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa. The format is 50 overs.

Why 'A' teams? Why not the senior ones?

The senior teams, first of all are too busy for the preparation of the World Cup 2011 which is just about 5 months later. And of course, we are in search of new talents through the competition - not the already discovered ones. In short, it is a battle of the future stars of world at an early stage.

Are the fixtures different?

Since, in this tournament all the 'countries' will be playing as one "team", we have very special fixtures for the competition.
During each round (including the third warm-up round), one manager of North and South sends me the playing order of the 'countries'. (Here I am using the word 'countries' for the 'A' teams and 'teams' for North/South to avoid confusion)
Which country takes on which is decided by the playing order given to me.
For eg - the manager of Sri Lanka A, Biggy (representing North) sends me the playing order (by PM), it is :-

India A
Pakistan A
Sri Lanka A
England Lions

And manager of South Africa A, Riz (representing South) sends me the playing order which is :-

South Africa A
New Zealand A
West Indies A
Australia A

If after three rounds, it is draw between the two sides, then we'd have a sudden death where the top countries from each side face each other and then decide who's the best. It will be called the Final Showdown.

About the squads

15-man squad + 3 reserves (incase of injury)
The manager don't have to post them now but after 20th, I'll announce it.

If anyone has any queries, he can ask me.

okay so as the manager of a southern team, i should post a lineup for South Africa A to play a team from the North.

so what does this mean

Managers have dual roles - first to post their respective lineup and to decide the playing order for North/South whichever they belong to.:)

About the warm ups

Each team will play three warm-ups. In Warm up round one, they can play against any of their domestic teams or against a team from a league on PC owned by the team manager (For eg. Sussex or Newcastle Nanobots)
In Round 2, the teams will play against the respective senior teams and finally in the third round, the format will be similar to the actual tournament so that the managers get to understand the working/structure of this competiton.
