Yep, this is the way to stop it and save money by not using power during "sleep" mode.

And it's not as if PS3 can charge controller on standby unlike PS4.

But there's an actual off switch on PS3 (at least mine does) and unless you switch it on you can't do much with the controller.

What a load of crap, I have the new tray loading one and it has a power button... I usually use the comtroller to turn it on/off though...

He's talking about the physical power switch that actually turns it off as opposed to a standby power mode.

You can switch off the bigger PS3 to fully turn it off, the newer ones need to be unplugged or switched off at the socket.
