I woke up this morning to the bright sun outside, and the Pidgeys chirping outside, and went downstairs. It seemed like any old morning, but mum told me to go meet Professor Elm, an old acquaintance of hers who had a favour to ask of me. We live in the small village known as New Bark Town, and it is incredibly easy to walk everywhere – there are only a few inhabitants beside the Professor and myself. One of them was my best friend Lyra, who I was extremely envious of because she had her own Pokemon already, a Marill. Would this be the day when I would receive my first Pokemon? I headed over to the Professor’s lab, eager to learn what he wanted of me. Professor Elm was renown throughout the Pokemon world as being one of the leading authorities on Pokemon. Whatever he wanted me to do was undoubtedly going to be something important pertaining to his research and I didn’t want to let him down.

Greeting him, he asked me what I knew about Pokemon walking around outside of pokeballs. Seeing as I didn’t have a Pokemon of my own, my knowledge of Pokemon mechanics was virtually non-existent. This was a matter that the Professor had been researching for a while, and to aid him, he wanted me to walk around with a Pokemon! I couldn’t believe that I was finally going to get a Pokemon of my own. But as he was going to give me a Pokemon, he received an urgent email from someone known as ‘Mr Pokemon’. The Professor was too busy to go visit and find out what interesting thing he had found, and so he sent me off, to find out whatever this person had discovered, and to aid in his research. My Pokemon journey was about to begin, and I couldn’t wait.

This is a story, written by Hedger, Iridium and myself about our journeys playing Pokemon HeartGold. Very few of the write-ups will be like the one above; mostly they will detail our path towards becoming the Pokemon League Champion. There will be some posts in the same style of prose as above, to set the scene, but the majority of the story will be written in a similar manner to the Worcestershire story Hedger and I wrote with Callum. Updates will be made after every major battle. I hope you enjoy this as much as we will.

Nice start here. Looking forward to this. I've already finished the Mr Pokemon mission thing and beaten my rival for the first time so I don't really know where to start, haha. What pokemon did you choose btw?

Really good start Chewie, I'm definitely going to be following this.

Oh. It was supposed to start from when you chose your pokemon up to the first rival battle...

Aren't I choosing Chikorita so we each have a different pokemon? I haven't actually chosen yet and would definitely prefer not to have Chikorita because I never use grass pokemon... (the only thing they're good against is Water and Rock/Ground and you can just use electric and water types...)

Well I guess we can just use whatever pokemon we want. I'll start the game again if you want, so I can write my first update.

Good start. Will follow this story for sure. Why don't you guys like Grass type pokemons? I know they are kinda ineffectve but still I love em, up until now I think I always used the grass-starter except in FR and Red

Yea it doesn't really matter which one we start with I suppose. Just that before you two were talking about how I should start with Chikorita...

I dunno, they don't have any good moves and are weak against a number of types. I just don't like them.

Are you guys using a simulator/video game?

Using a real copy of HeartGold on our Nintendo DS'

haha, like I said, I was fine for everybody to start with whatever pokemon but then Iridium said otherwise or something. And haha, I've never used grass type, only fire with Charmander, Cyndaquil and Chimchar and water with Mudkip.

Well I don't really care what we start with. Someone suggested we start with different starters. I've gone with Totodile anyway and I'll do my writeup soon.

Good start there, quite interested to see how it develops!
Good luck! :)

My pokemon journey was about to begin. I was ready to go on Professor Elm's mission and collect whatever Mr Pokemon had for the Professor who was busy. I was just about to leave when the Professor told me that I should take a pokemon with me, just in case I get attacked in the grass. I had 3 options, Chikorita, Cyndaquil or Totodile. I always wanted a fire pokemon so I decided to take Cyndaquil. I was told to go slightly north past Cherrygrove City, the next down onwards and so I set off on my journey. Just as I was about to leave the lab, one of Elm's workers gave me a few potions just in case my Cyndaquil got injured, and then I set out on my journey.

My friend, Lyra was excited that I got a Cyndaquil and ran off, before I went and told my mum just before I was going to leave, and she gave me my Pokegear. I made my way towards Cherrygrove City then. I had to walk through the long grass and encountered a fair few pokemon on my way there, as my Cyndaquil got some decent experience, before I reached Cherrygrove City. An old man greeted me and showed me around the town before giving me some running shoes. I healed my pokemon at the Pokemon Center before making my way towards Mr. Pokemon's house. The old man came up to me just as I was about to leave and gave me a map, which I was grateful for, and then I set off. I reached a house, and wondered whether it was Mr Pokemon's house. I went inside and found out it wasn't but the man in there was kind enough to give me an Apricorn box and told me about Apricorn's, although I wasn't really bothered to listen to him. I kept going onwards and found Mr Pokemon's house not long after, trying to take advantage of having a pokemon, by running into wild pokemon.

Mr Pokemon then came up to talk to me and then went to get something. He brought back an egg. He said he got it from a friend and wanted me to give it to Professor Elm. Professor Oak then talked to me and gave me a pokedex, where I could help his research. Then I left to get back to Professor Elm. I got a phone call from him, where he said it was a disaster and to get back to him now, so I ran back towards home. Just as I passed Cherrygrove City, a red headed guy walked up to me. He said he didn't deserve my pokemon and battled me. He had a Totodile which made me suspicious, since that was one of the pokemon that the Professor had at the lab. It was still too easy though as I used tackle 3 times to kill him while he only inflicted 6 damage on my Cyndaquil, who just grew to level 10. I was pretty pleased with my progress, with Cyndaquil learning Ember. Then he just said he was going to be the World's greatest trainer and ran off, before coming back to pick up his trainer card that I caught a glimpse of. I ran as fast as I could back to the lab, where there was a policemen with the Professor. The policemen said that there was a missing pokemon and accused me of doing it, but Lyra said I had nothing to do with it and said it was a red haired boy, the one I fought. The policemen asked for his name and I remembered the trainer card. "It was Dale", I told the police officer. She then left and I was left with the Professor. I gave him the egg and told him about the pokedex Professor Elm gave me. He noticed my Cyndaquil really liked me and told me to take it, and told me about the gym leaders. I was really excited about it. I was going to become the Champion!

So I was about to leave on my journey but decided to go talk to my mum before I left. She said she'd save money for me, and I said ok. Now it was time to leave New Bark Town. I was excited for my journey, I knew I could do it. I would become the Champion!

Note: I decided to just do some type of story leading into my journey, but not really any updates will be like this. I was sort of unsure how to write it so I just did it like this. And Dale was just a random name I generated cause I had no idea what to name my rival.

I think that we'll start off writing big updates like that, and then later on get a bit bored of them :p I'm gonna do some work and then I might start writing, after dinner :)

The problem with everyone doing a writeup is that it's the same story for everyone... :p

Yeah, that was my thought as well. How about we all take turns in writing a bit of a story while the others just post their progress really. So you two post your progress up to the rival point/back at the lab point and then Iridium could do the next story bit, then me and you post our progress and then you do a bit of a story and we post our progress, then me and it goes on like that. Would mean that there would be a bit of a storyline to this, we all do a bit of writing while not always writing, and we're still up against each other. I think it would work alright.
