Story AC13: Scotland's Big Test - Ireland forfeit - post 40!

Well it would b nice if you'd kept it realistic,
I made no attempt to force this outcome, I just bowled a fairly normal line and the AI took it from there. Indeed I even made sure to use the default fields so I wasn't exploiting that bug (well for the most part, that comes later in the match).

It emphasises how ridiculous this game is once you write about it in story format. Curious as to see who will get Test status

Well it would b nice if you'd kept it realistic, but then yeah, reading this brings a smile on my face, so go on!

Dipak, you must read some threads in AC13 forums to understand more about this :D

PS- Thanks for reading so far everyone - It'd be great if the story section could be active again once we have a good game out.

Yeah, DBC14 might really bring some stories running here activating this section further with quality.

While the wicket keeper's hands going through the stumps prevented the bails from falling, the first slip's quick thinking idea to get in a staring contest with them caused the bails to fall and the batsman to be dismissed.

FOW: 6/5 - Glover - Run out 0

The new batsman successfully defended the first ball, and managed to get a quick single to get off the mark. With the first run to his name, the batsman thought it was in his power to save the Irish innings taking the decision to attempt to take a run while the wicket keeper wasn't looking.

A quick thinking shout by the bowler and the wicket keeper sprung into action by kneeing the stumps while elbowing the bails to make sure they broke.

FOW: 7/6 - Scantlebury - Run Out - 1

The end of the over allowed Gibbs back on strike, and a terrible over of bowling saw the Irish finally gain some runs - first hitting a four, and then fielding overthrows saw more runs added to the tally.

At the end of the 7th over, Ireland had more than doubled their score to put them in a match winning position at 7/17.

The 8th over saw Barmy return as bowler. After three dot balls, Gibbs grew impatient with not scoring, and set off for a dangerous run, with the batsman just managing to cross, dismissing the non-striker.

FOW: 8/17 - Dean - Run Out - 0

With all these run outs from those close in, the outfielders for Scotland were getting restless and began to interact with the crowd.

A huge shot was looking set to fly for six, but a conveniently timed wave from McKenzie saw an accidental one handed catch.

FOW: 9/18 - Houghton - c McKenzie b Gibson - 0

With just one wicket remaining for Ireland, the last ditch partnership between Gibbs and Watts began.

After putting on a 4 run partnership, they pushed to make it back for a second run after a shot straight to third man,

Will they make it?

All that and more, soon.

Use the force, Luke.

10 bucks says they made it.

The first screenshot in the latest update. Goodness me, how does that even resemble cricket?

I cant wait for the steelbox version of this game: I hope it is coffin-size then I can lay down in it.

And it's all over for Ireland, with the wicket keeper managing to get the bails off.

FOW: All out 22 - Watts - Run Out - 1

After a short performance by two entirely pink statues in the middle of the ground, everyone was ready for the start of Scotland's innings.

Well everyone except the Batsman, who was bowled first ball.

FOW: 1/0 - Gray - b Houghton - 0

Barmy was promoted up the order to be the next batsman in. However a very late shout of 'no' was interpreted as for the first run, and Barmy started to turn around just short of the crease.

An even more odd decision to start running side on to the crease as the ball was about to hit the stumps was risky,

But in the end the bails were dislodged and Barmy given out.

Oddly, the umpires hadn't noticed Barmy fell short, and gave him a run anyway.

FOW: 2/1 - Barmy - Run Out - 1

The crowd ran away later in the over with the ball coming towards them for the first time in the match,

On the other side of the ground, the escape options were less clear, with the crowd still looking for ways out when the ball came towards them,

With the score now ticking away at 2/9 - both batsman were on 4 - which led to heated arguments about who should be given most of the strike.

This ended, unsurprisingly, in yet another run out - you know what they look like by now.

FOW: 3/9 - McKenzie - run out - 4

The next over, despite having paid the umpire to look away - Hawk Eye proved to be convincing enough for the on field indecision to be overturned

FOW: 4/9 - Russell - LBW Houghton - 0

While another four followed early the next over, the batsman mistimed one and was bowled, three times in a row.

Oh, and another two LBWs followed for good measure

With the score at 9/15, Scotland had at least managed to put on a few valuable runs in between the steady flow of wickets.

After having further narrowed Ireland's lead to just 4 runs, an ill timed celebration from the Scottish batsman made the last wicket fall

So, Scotland were all out for 18.

Ireland's second innings, next.
