Have you also realised that they haven't had a world class bowler for donkey's years.

Neither NZ have except Bond and Vettori despite their tracks. And don't you count Kumble, Bhajji and Zaheer as bowlers, Also I would get in Nehra in that list after his good form recently.

We have 0.4% of the population of you...

It's pretty obvious why the develop some of the finest batsmen, because their pitches these days are absolute roads.

That appeared funny to me when I thought about it.

What the meaning of this sentence. Do Indian pitches produce finest of batsmen.:laugh
If that's the case, our batsmen should fail everywhere except the subcontinent but that's not the case, our young sides have performed well.
Indian emerging players are performing in Australia right now, have won an U-19 world cup too.

Ok sorry, I forgot about Kumble.
Zaheer is decent, but I wouldn't call him world class.

Nehra?
Test average of 42, E/R of 3.2
ODI average of 30, E/R of 5.1

Balaji? Wtf?
Test average of 37, E/R of 3.4
ODI average of 40, E/R of 5.6
Man, that's guys pretty close to world class.

That doesnt mean much though.

That statement does actually mean a lot.
India has 270 times the population of us, plus our population is more aged, so that stat is probably up at about 300-350 the amount of children we have.
That's a bloody large amount if you ask me, and that obviously has a n influence.

Not to mention that cricket isn't our national game, if a child in our country had the choice between Rugby, Football or Cricket, 7-8 times out of ten they aren't going to go for Cricket.
If a child in India/the sub-continent had a choice between Cricket and other sports, 7-8 times out of 10 they're going to choose cricket.

I don't really buy into the fact that we're doing great to be the 5th/6th best cricket country in the world, but the population/environment definitely does have an influence.

no he meant Harbhajan :p

and he is a class spinner but then he isn't a quick bowler is he?

Love this part:

They have to pay a US$200,000 release fee but that's chicken feed for these uber-rich parasites.

That's all these Indian businessmen are, parasites.
The are infecting the game of cricket with utter BS, and the someone should just pay a hitman to assassinate them all. :spy

This pretty much sums up all my points:

The rules favour Indian teams and I bet the Indian administration of the Champions League want to avoid the embarrassment of last time when the final was contested between New South Wales and Trinidad & Tobago.

But the rules also make a mockery of a fair competition. Players like Taylor, Cameron White and Dale Steyn have all helped their respective provinces to qualify and now they must advantage their IPL team at the expense of their rightful provinces. How stupid is this tournament?

learn to live with it i suppose. maybe next year things will be different.

The other nations supposedly part of organising this event (ECB, CSA & CA) needs to stand up for themselves and not be lured into the BCCI's trap with cash. Seriously need the ICC to organise this event but with the head being a corrupt indian official we wont be seeing that happen anytime soon.

T20 should go back to what it was when it first came.

That was the best T20 match ever.

Well my point was that population alone doest not gurantee the quality of cricketers produced. Cricket is not popular in NZ (as a first choice sport) and thats the bigger reason.

I really hope the Pakistan-England series is at its peak during those days.T20s are entertaining, but nothing beats TEST cricket and ODI cricket at its best. The recent TESTs are a prime example, and the way the England and Pakistan series is shaping out to be, I would probably not look at the CLT20

Oram may possibly be out of the tournament injured. The Central Districts side will then have no big names in it, will crash out early after some big losses, people will say that NZ domestic teams aren't good enough, and we won't get a future spot in the tournament. (Worst case scenario)

If Taylor were playing, our lineup would look so much better. He's one of the best T20 players in the world, and Oram's one of the best in the country. CD looks so much worse because of them not being there.

Stupid tournament.

and the few times Taylor usually comes good is in these domestic tournaments. Watch him play some blinders for Bangalore

this i going to be embarrassing. I wish ND or Auckland went through now, or of course the experienced Otago side who would've been better from there poor effort last year. CD won the HRV cup though and deserve o be there, I just can't see them doing too well without their stars.
