All Time XI of different cricketers

I also found the polling for the Wisden player of the century they named in 2000. There were 100 voters and each one voted for 5 players he thought deserved to be in the running for player of the century.

I'm not sure how anyone can say Barry Richards is one of the greatest cricketers.
Almost everytime I say Shane Bond is one of the best fast bowlers of the modern era, some people will say he hasn't played enough test cricket, even though he's played five times as much as Richards.

Maybe its just me but I would rather have Marshall over Lillee.

Thats just King Pietersen that's all up on Richards.

Really good point. I like Bond. No controversies, clean action and gives his best always. And he has got some very good bowling spells to his name.

Christopher Martin-Jenkins list is the one I don't agree with the most. Adam Gilchrist at ten, please. Lara and Hadlee at 24 and 25, those two carried their teams for so long it wasn't funny. Kallis at 52, one of if not the best all-rounders ever. Kevin Pietersen at 60, how is he in front of Steve Waugh? Shuan Pollock at 98, pfft.

He has way too many players rated far too highly IMO, and then others rated far too lowly.

If Lara and Tendulkar are in a list then Ponting deserves to be in it.

Agree with you there.
If Tendulkar is at two on both, Ponting deserves to be there or there about's, as their records are extremely similar.

It is because his FC career matches his rather short test career, he hasn't played enough test cricket to be in the top few but there are some very good judges that have him as one of the great opening batsmen. He has a FC average of mid 50s with 80 hundreds (this is on uncovered pitches and has a FC 7 wicket haul, and his strike rate for his time is 60 which is high.

Yes, I understand that.
My point is that when I say Bond is one of the greatest fast bowlers of the last decade, people here on PC say he can't be great as he hasn't played enough test cricket.
But the fact is that he has one of the best S/R's in the history of the game.
I'm just comparing this to Richards, and saying how can he be great as he has hardly played any test cricket, which is what you guys say to me about Bond...

Shane Bond just didn't play enough test cricket against the better teams for him to be ranked that highly. ODI's are a different matter all together for me though, IMO he's played more then enough.

It is the same reason why a lot of people do hesitate to pick Richards. In the end it is a judgement call, if somebody wants to pick Bond in their best ever XI they can. If they want to pick Richards they can.

If Sachin, Lara and Pointing are all in a best XI team, then Kallis deserves to be there. His record is only second to Sobers.
