The idea that this will end 40 years of debate is fairly untrue. Whilst some water has been found, it is not necessarily proof of anything other than that there was water where they looked on the moon. Water alone does not equal life, although it makes it more likely. This one has some way to go yet before something really substantial is found.

Life also needs an atmosphere of some sort, doesn't it? And the moon has no atmosphere whatsoever.

i really dont understand why they waste so much money on moon and mars missions.
other than bragging about it, theres nothing much you'll achieve even IF theres some life on the moon / mars.

but atleast this mission served some purpose unlike the heavily overrated,dramatic and VFX filled Apollo 11 which did nothing except for satisfying the United States government's ego !

Uhm, don't you want to know what exists outside of our little bubble called Earth? It's so small compared to the universe, don't you want to know what is happening, who's out there, and what it is all made of?!

With water on the moon, even though it's still in its early stages, we have a possibility for moon bases and colonies.

If everyone had your attitude we wouldn't know that atoms made up all matter, why the weather works the way it does, or anything at all.
