Ashes Cricket 2009 v1.1 Progress Update

lol...in India it is very much better better than China. In china even in Govt. offices they use pirated softwares .
The worst part is these people sell pirated softwares for very low prices. That cost them 10 cents & sell for 1 dollor.

no colin i dont think so. they can fix it at lest by good 75% if they try. what they have to do is make the game availible in all test playing nations. ofcoz they cant make it availible every country in the world but there is no market for cricket games in all the countrys. market is in 10 test playing nations (well you can count ZIM out). if they do this. i think people would buy the legal version... some people just dont have a choice.

A choice? :laugh I don't have a car, but I want that one, I'll break in to it and then it's mine.

There is always a choice. There is just no point in selling games in India.

Yeps, agreed.

You always have a choice to not buy stolen goods. Ashes Cricket 09 is not an inelastic product. If you can not afford to buy the legal version then you should not buy the game. Sorry if this sounds harsh, and this comment is not directed at anyone in particular.

I think we are getting a little offtrack here. The discussion is regarding the progress of the patch. So dear DarkBoyBlunder.... can you tell us what can we expect with the final patch? Which bugs are fixed, what are the tweaks in the game we can expect in comparison with beta 2. Thanks for your update.

i was wondering come final patch will the batting be harder as colin mentioned at some point he would have some good news for people finding the game to easy not sure what he meant by this anyone know??

Any changes to ai field settings especially in test matches??

Also ive been reading some issues about the batsmens confidence bars, as in them hitting sixes/fours when ow on confidence(fearless)??

It will essentially be what's in Beta 2 with additional bug fixes, such as fixing the Legends mode problems and the bug with the AI not returning to crease after advancing down the wicket. The final PC patch will return OB2 users to the production server again, so you'll be able to play against all 1.1 users (1.0 users will no longer be able to play online). This is why we released Beta 2, if we went and made more changes then released it, we'd risk introducing a new major issue. We went through a multitude of changes during the closed Beta process, Open Beta 1 was our 5th Beta within the closed group, which helped address the biggest issues that were raised in response to the retail version.

Batting difficulty underwent improvement between Beta 1 and Beta 2, where we made normal half way towards what hard mode was, and overall we're happy with the difficulty is when we consider everyone who plays the game, not just hardcore players. With the release of the patch, we're not saying we think everything's perfect, it's not the case, it's never going to be. What we do think however is that it's a marked improvement over the retail version, which most of our customers are yet to experience, so it's high time we released the patch so everyone can enjoy, where as less than 100 people are currently playing Open Beta 2.

I do see this as bad news as i thought there would be more improvements from beta 2 towards final patch and people have been leaving feedback about some serious issues are still present in beta 2 so bit dissapointed about this.

Not meaning to be rude but after releasing a buggy game which clearly wasnt tested enough i thought you would keep on updating the betas till you got it right.

But not forgetting the effort you have made already in making these patches ectect

Please dont take this offensively i am very gratefull:D

There are always limitations to patching, as Rob has mentioned it is a highly risky process in itself, with considerations for: PC, PS3, 360 Arcade, 360 Elite, Gameplanet users, etc. Budget too, the patch isn't going to be released till about 3 months after the game was released. You have to fund that time from somewhere, and it can't be limitless. I'm sure they'll take all the feedback gained in to the future, but sometimes you just have to say, "We've reached x".

I agree with SS here, they cant just keep developing the patch. It will never be perfect, issues will always pop up.
That being said they made a valiant effort with the patch (even though I have not seen it myself) and must be commended on it.

However, even with the patch AC09 is a very raw game. Its has great potential, and I am personally looking forward to the 2nd edition, with some spit and polish, I imagine AC2 (or whatever its called) will be a much more "complete" game.

One thing I would do is return the running to Beta 1's code. In Beta 2, the AI still refuses easy singles, never runs for defensive shots (even if there's an easy single), but has a lot more dodgy (not quite suicide-o-run style) runouts. And something has to be done about the AI lofting shots all the time, when a ground shot would be safer and provide more or less the same result.

Just a quick question:

Will the leaderboards be reset once the final patch is released (please please please)

Will there be a filter for >25 matches played or somethign similar on the averages? Its a bit decieving to see the averages right now, as the qualification is 1 match played.

Perhaps you've just played it a lot more since Beta 1, as that code hasn't changed since then; so there's nothing to roll back to in this regard.

Oh, ok. Any chance of the AI's lofted shots being toned down in the final patch? That's the last real annoyance left in the game for me (as far as tests go. It's more acceptable in ODIs/ Twenty20s.

Yeah if they are going for it, which is good, they need to play more ground strokes. You just place a fielder underneath and whacko, three cheap wickos. If this could happen then this game will be very playable in ODI mode.:)

Thanks for the work and the efforts been done to remain in contact with the community!:)

Thanks for all works done by transmission and code master on the patch,It really made big improvement to the game,Before i didn't play it offline ,now its more fun to play offline,Because of that I might get the game for ps3 too after patch releases.thanks again for releasing and supporting a cricket game after like almost 3 years gap.
