Ashes Cricket delayed officially

Colin, can you give a perspective in how you view Chief's role here? I must admit that I am trying to establish a standpoint in my own mind in how far Chief had the ability and responsibility to communicate as an official representative of the game or not. How do you see his capacity here?

Sure. Chief has consistently said he does not want to be accused of mis-leading anyone and so has chosen not to answer various questions (including release date) on that basis.
Chief is the producer which is an important role but at the same time he works for 505 games (freelance) and they get to decide the timeline for releasing game information, assets etc. I see Chief as being here as a gamer and a fan who decided to try and make this game better by using our expertise. Remember that we worked with Chief and Transmission to create the AC09 patch that formed the basis of IC10. How far the ideas here are able to be incorporated is anyone's guess. Trickstar are clearly working under greater timescale and financial pressure than Big Ant.
I agree that my perspective on Chief may be coloured by the fact that I've known him and chatted to him about cricket gaming for 6 years or more but I would still criticise him if I believed he had himself deliberately misled us.
Mike Fegan may have misled us; 505 games may have done so but I don't know how or where Chief has.

I think we will see it with a July 10 release date. What better way than to release it on the day of the first test? If they get posters up at EB and JB, and pump out a few trailers that would be more than enough.

Yea I'd love to see that, would also be funny that the non-ashes game releases before the ashes and the ashes game doesnt :facepalm

I think People are too easy in forgetting that Chief did said that the game will be on time debunking all the rumors after Ross announced about their delay for the first time.

I'd like to see that quote again to be honest. Anyone able to find it?

I think People are too easy in forgetting that Chief did said that the game will be on time debunking all the rumors after Ross announced about their delay for the first time. There is NO WAY that Ross knew it before Chief, everyone of 505 and Trickstar knew that the game hasn't been submitted for Platform approvals yet and therefore it going to delay but they all kept lying to us. I also remember Chief saying that marketing has been good according to him although he isn't in charge of marketing campaign but it was okay to him. But the most annoying fact is about the sudden disappearance act of Chief and denying to reply to anything even though he was online and viewing all the posts. YES, HE WAS ALLOWED to have his say about the release date. If he can debunk Ross rumors before that the game is on time, he was definitely allowed to confirm or deny it again but he chose not to. I can understand all the valuable time Chief has given to this community but people here are taking everything for granted. Just give a little thought and check all the comments of chief past month or so when the rumors came into large. He kept on ignoring release date questions but didn't hesitate to reply about features/details. IF Chief wasn't allowed to confirm/deny the release date at the first place, he wouldn't be allowed to interact like nothing happened with us

Yep he replied to me explaining the marketing theory and what market they were aiming for and all was on schedule.

He typed that knowing game wasnt even near to coming out!

That to me is deceit! I still am shocked that noone has had the decency to announce it officially!

No wonder noone has seen any gameplay, i bet its in a right old state!

Sure, here it is

Number of rumours? I've only seen one... :-) 21st June is still the release date, as evidenced everywhere else.

oh and..

There is an extensive marketing campaign: it hasn't begun in earnest yet. The core fanbase are the early target, hence the community/social media work. The cricketing fanbase (hence the back-cover ads in this month's "Cricketer" magazine) is just ramping up, and the mass market campaign will commence just before release when Ashes fever reaches boiling point.

It's the best possible way to optimise the marketing.

That's from 11 May so we're talking 6 weeks out. I agree it doesn't look good if he definitely knew at that point it would be late.

I wouldn't read too much into his posts on marketing.

But Ross had already stated he believed it was to be delayed.

So i find it staggering to believe that he would no and Jamie wouldnt!! Infact i def dont believe that!

I think the saddest part in all of this is really that there hasn't been any formal acknowledgement of the delay. I can say for me personally that i would be fine with the delay of the game if they were at least able to own up to it. The fact is that there are so many ways for them to communicate with us, right here on PC, twitter or Facebook... but all they seem to have done is just run away.

Gutted its been put back, not chiefs fault , it happens all the time
with games big and small.
505 games set a unreasonable date for trickstar to meet.
Release it in july and it will sell much better when the
ashes are happening, like they did with ashes 09..
Lets grow up and remember the 3 years of no cricket games and in next
3 months we are getting 2 :yes

To give an idea about when they knew about the delay, just after they announced the date june 21st (back in february i believe), Ross cheekily said "lets see which game comes out first". at that time we did not know anything about the delay and later ross did confirm he indeed was trying to give us hints at that time about a possible delay.

Basically a delay they have known about for at least 4 months and they did not let us know.

Unless this game is the best cricket game ever, i will not be buying it just on principle.

I have cooled off so I can write now:(, I was very annoyed like most about the yes it's 21st no it's not. Like I said before I don't care if the game get's delayed if they need more time so be it but god tell the public and your customers. If you go out for dinner and your food is going to be late you don't just stand there and not tell the customer do you, no you have some guts and just tell them. Now if I was 505 games I would ask chief to come on here with a new release date, a sorry and maybe a trailer. p.s In the end us cricket nuts do forgive more than most other sport fans, just treat us with a little respect. p.s I'm still buying it and yes I pre ordered it just 2 days ago.:facepalm
p.s How about chief get's his buttocks smacked with the PC cricket bat of pain, only released for real naughty boys that have done something real wrong or had 100 plus deletes, god me and Gone4ADuck must be nearing that punishment.:p

But Ross had already stated he believed it was to be delayed.

So i find it staggering to believe that he would no and Jamie wouldnt!! Infact i def dont believe that!

Hence I said "definitely" knew it would be delayed.

Totally agree with this.

I don't care how much you defend them but I think I have enough reasons and logic to say that both 505 and Trickstar knew that this game is going to delay all along. Unless you prove me otherwise, I'll put some blame on Chief as well for misleading us. 5 weeks (from now) is more than enough time to decide whether the game is on time or now.

You're nice. Too nice.

Where is Jamie Firth?
