Ashes Cricket Trailer!

Thanks @pulina

My lesson for today, this umpire does sarcasm, I have to remember the internet does not. There are new bowling actions.

Lol...I got your sarcasm as soon as you posted it...but I guess that's because some of us do know you better than others :p

To add to the realism of the game, Australian cricketers Steve Smith, Glenn Maxwell, Emma Inglis and Mackinley Blows all had their movements captured in a complex recording process.

Each player was required to move around the 360-degree field playing a wide variety of shots depending on the height of the ball, and whether the shot was aggressive, normal or defensive.

Motion capture data from the Bupa National Cricket Centre was used to recreate bowling actions for the Australian players, while the skills of the in-game competitors have been assessed by Cricket Australia’s Team Performance unit.

As far as I know, it hasn't been confirmed whether any motion capture was done for England players. Personally, I wouldn't be too upset by that because I think just having the movements of any pro players used to create animations is a great improvement. If you were expecting every player in the both Ashes squads to have a unique bowling action or batting style, considering the time between release of DBC17 and this game, (not to mention the costs involved with doing something that ambitious) then you are dreamin'. People need to stop being so negative on here. Seriously. Way too many comments whining about things they didn't see in the trailer.

The main thing for me was that Slats and Mel Jones, two of my favourite Aussie commentators, are now confirmed as commentators. Really happy with that. I also like that the commentators will talk about the Ashes, e.g. Slats saying they are tied going into the Sydney Test. I mean I guess it is expected there would be stuff like that but I feel like it will add an extra level of excitement to it. Really looking forward to getting stuck into Career Mode so I can work my way up to an Ashes debut.

Really happy about Michael Slater as well. Like any commentator he gets some stick from some quarters but to have him in the game will really add to the realism.

If the variations off the pitch and reverse swing and other stuffs are really visible then interactive replay will take a beating as that is the max thing I would be using along with slow-mo..:D

I spent more time than I'd like to admit watching replays on DBC14 whenever I managed a bowled or caught behind that was apparently due to some nice swing or seam movement. And now I have a 55 inch TV...

Nice..

i reckon another video coming shortly!! (pun intended)

Below are the concerns I have after going through the video frame by frame.

0:25 Slip fielder instead of wicket keeper. (No gloves or pads)
0:27 Ball bounce is unrealisitic. Pitched up ball kinda bounced shoulder height. (Felt the same way with the intial teaser videos as well)
0:28 Ball passes though the bat to the slips.
0:29 Ball is not visible, even though the fielder dives and catches it.

Everything else seems fine. Hope they fix these issue before release.

I think we are overthinking on the trailer. Even if all the things u said are a big it’s too late to patch before release. So let’s wait for the release and then see how the game is developed.

Not sure about the last 2 being important enough. But the first 2 weren't there in DBC17 and I'm assuming aren't desirable enough for them to be done on purpose. From outside both those things look very very odd.

I think you're thinking the right thing when I'm reading about the thinking on peoples thoughts the trailer.

It does also seem fashionable these days to have a day one patch plus we already know the trailer was a prerelease version of the game.

With all these variables it makes it hard to judge the smaller things till we play the thing or see someone playing it.

My biggest gripe with all the games in the last 10 or so years is the super unrealstic ball physics when it comes to bowling. The ball speed, the action, the loop, everything is just plain wrong

Brian Lara 99, heck Cricket 96 had it better.

To add to my point

See the Youtube Videos of lets say EA Cricket 2002 and DBC 14. Front on. You guys will understand exactly what I mean. Cricket 2002 the ball seems naturally going towards the batsman, DBC 14 feels like some wrapped matrix as the ball goes from the bowler to the batsman

If you play without huds dbc 14 was probably the closest sim cricket there. It still could be more zippy but thats the best i have seen with video games.

I love blc 99 so much but to say it had better ball speed than dbc 14 isnt true.
