Asia Cup 2014

^just posted it for fun if you look down all three images of MS are the same:D, anyway it serves it purpose

Was going to pass on this event because of the format involved, but with Kohli captaining, guess I'll have to check it out.

Lol the image itself is a fake one because the Kohli image is from csk vs rcb ipl 2013 match & Dhoni image is from Clt20 2010 which was held in south africa.

He is not trying to post images from the same match. The image is to show the difference in reactions for a particular incident.

Dhoni is smiling after winning the match and virat is reacting to the last ball. Is this a reaction for particular incident.:rolleyes

Dhoni's injury is actually a blessing for the Indian team. His defensive tactics were affecting the morale of the whole Indian team. Also how he handled the inexperienced bowlers and new comers like Stuart Binny was pathetic. He publicily criticised his Pacers, 4 of them were really new to the scene(Yadav, Varun,Shami, B.Kumar) and can only prosper through motivation. Confidence is everything for a pacer and he just totally destroyed them with that press meet. He was a good captain at the beginning, then become a nonsensical captain. Actually Dinesh Karthik is top replacement for him and India'll never gonna miss Dhoni.

I still think he is a pretty decent captain in limited overs cricket. I also have to disagree on the part where you said India won't miss him. Losing Dhoni in the ODI format is HUGE. That guy can practically do anything or pull off any miracle in the ODI as long as he is at the crease.

My main concern is now who will play as the finisher in the team. Will Virat move to number 4? How good is Raydu as a finisher? Should Rohit move down the order to play as a finisher? We also can't play Pujara, Kohli and Rahane in the same team if Dhoni is not there at the end because they all play similar role.

Dhawan
Rohit
Pujara
Kohli
Karthik
Raydu
Jadeja
Ashwin
Bhuvi
Aaron
Shami

I would personally push Rohit down and have Pujara open with Dhawan. I don't want to move Kohli out of his No.3 spot in ODI's. He has been spectacular there and let him be there. And it will be a good exposure for Pujara at the opening spot because I do not expect Rohit to succeed in Australia/NZ conditions for the WC at the opening spot.

The only reason Rohit featured was his last good ODI series against aus and conditions are going to be similar, if he falters are makes things going tough for dhawan by not rotating, then he should be replaced with Rayudu at no 5 slot and pujara or rahanae can be made to open.

296 is always a decent score against Pakistani bowling. Again, a Chandimal at no.7 doesn't bring much to the team vs. a Chandimal at no. 3. But the Sri Lankan think tank has at least realised that Thirimanne will be more effective top of the order, something which he showed early in his career too. His first hundred came at no. 3.

Sri Lanka should be comfortable defending this score it seems, not a bad bowling unit at all.

Well, pretty close in the end, wasn't it. I thought Misbah and Umar Akmal had it in the bag but then they decided that they would rather throw it away. A bit of Malinga Magic, and voila, Sri Lanka win. Good for them.

I read an article of cricinfo where Mashrafe Mortaza said that beating India would not count as an upset. That's a great attitude to have, but he's gotta be joking, right? Right?

I think Mortaza is right. Bangladesh beating India is not an upset anymore.

I am just glad its Bangladesh players mouthing off before the series and not the Indians. Sehwag's 'Bangladesh are ordinary' comment made me cringe

The Indian team will be pretty hurt with the string of losses we have had off late. And such situations can go either way - they can come out charging in conditions they love, or can crash further. Hopefully its the former :) Go India

Yeah, the way they beat us in World Cup 2007 is just embarrassing even now. :( Bangladesh has really grown up to a potential side, but they would need some discipline cultivated to win the hearts across too. They have long steps to climb in this ladder at this point.

We also lost to BD in the last Asia Cup (Sachin's 100th 100 - those basterds :P)

I wonder if Ojha will ever be selected again. I can understand him not being selected for ODI's, but he seems to have just fallen off the radar after his 10 wickets in Mumbai. I don't see them naming him in the squad magically after they didn't for two test series.

I also wonder why Rohit Sharma is constantly selected. It'd be good to see names like Kedar Jadhav and Manpreet Juneja - guys that average close to 50 in domestic over Rohit Sharma, who averages ~35 in domestic list a. I would've also loved it if the selectors gave Lokesh Rahul a try as a wicketkeeper batsman instead of Dinesh Karthik for this series, or at least had him as a backup. I know he's not as experienced, but he's only 21 and his stats are great. In short, there's plenty of talent, just really shoddy selection.

It is a weaker team beating a stronger team. It wouldn't be as shocking as before, but it is definitely an upset.
