Assassin's Creed III

They've released it too late. After all the Ezio titles, the gameplay has become mundane and boring.

Yeah this is apparently the one that'll use improved technology etc...

As I said, as they move through time towards present day, they'll need bigger and bigger crowds to mimic the increase in population sizes. They'll wait for the next consoles (only a year or two away now) before they truely start on a modern day Assassin game.

Question is... where?

I couldn't care less what they said, Ubisoft have a very expensive and well paid PR department haha

My point is, 1000 is cool and allows battlefields as they have implied for this, as well as cities from this time.

To do one set in a modern day Shanghai, or London, or New York, they'd need 10s of thousands, which will need the next set of consoles.

I remember Hitman doing an awesome level set during a massive parade, now imagine an AC level set during peak time London. Scampering around St Pauls trying to pick your target. You blend into a local walking tour and then see him head down to a station. Following him into the tube, stalking him from a different carriage, and eventually following him to his house. You slip into the garden, unlock the back door and poison his dinner with a poison that simulates a heart attack...

No one ever knew he was even a target...

*Jizz*

As awesome as that sounds, I don't think it will ever be a reality. The only next gen console to be announced is Nintendo's sequel to the Wii, which is said to be just as powerful as the PS3/360. I highly doubt Sony and Microsoft will be developing a console anytime soon; the last I heard, they still haven't made a worthwile profit from their current consoles.

Errr..

They're all expected to announce their next consoles either at this or the next big E-event. This is now the longest console lifespan we've ever had. We've reached the point again where even budget gaming PC's are leaving the consoles in the water, and they've just about taken them as far as they can.

A lot of games are currently creaking at the moment. Xbox have pretty much given up already and are letting Sony have this last year or two.

It's pretty much common knowledge on most major gaming sites/forums I use... I don't mean announce to release either, I mean announce that they've started doing something for them. That'll either be this or next year, which then gives another year or two before release. Xbox is almost certainly likely to make the move first, considering they've pretty much reached their limit.

We've almost reached 7 years now in this 360 cycle. Developers have had enough, they're now being held back by the consoles. 7 years is basically about as long as most of them will go. In that time PC's have come a very long way, as has the technology that can be used in a home console.

PS is a bit harder to decipher at the moment. They have generally stuck to their guns that they want the PS3 to be a 10 year console, however, if they announce their next console is in development in 2 E3's time, that then gives them a year or two to release it (they have publicly stated they don't want to give Microsoft such a headstart this time). Baring in mind they had the PS2 still supported for a few years after the PS3 was released, it seems likely that they'll maybe released the Ps4 sometime around the 8 year mark of the Ps3 lifespan.

Of course, most of this is merely conjecture, and chatting with people who work in the industry like sad pathetic losers with nothing better to do :P

Of course a lot could depend on how well the PS3's late surge does. If it continues to flourish, and live up to Kaz Hirai's suggestions that developers have still yet to get the best out of it (well, maybe you shouldn't have tried ot be so clever with how you set up your ram you fools!). If it also carries on shifting units, then they'll clearly be more inclined to hold back on the PS4. That said, if Microsoft leap first, then Sony will probably be forced to follow.

Oh, there's something like this - PS4 Release Date - The Countdown Begins | PS4 - Playstation 4

But most of my information has been chat/forumy based.

Because, to be honest, that link I've posted the more you read, the more it sounds like they haven't a clue haha

Fair enough.

But I can't see them announcing any development plans anytime soon. Both the 360 and PS3 were profit failures, due to both the consoles being too expensive and the Wii's immense popularity.

The PS3 was a massive loss. The 360 actually did ok I thought due to their penchant for charging tons for all their peripherals? Were they that bad as well? Something that unfortunately the Vita appears to have borrowed with their memory cards. Which is a shame, as I really want one, they're unbelievable cool.

In a way, that's my point really. A handheld is now powerful enough to play Ps3 games... Yeah you're right a lot of people think they'll actually keep the next consoles quite a bit simpler in terms of specs.

They'll be more about ease of development for, something Sony forget at the beginning of the Ps3 "teh cell is da most powerful thing in the world" rubbish haha.

The sun is very powerful, but it's no good if no one knows how to bleedin' harnass it :p

Yep. MLB The Show. You can literally take your game with you and carry on, a few features missing, but the game is apparently spot on.

They're mighty sexy, and fair play to Sony, they've made a seriously impressive handheld. At the moment, they're doing ok in my book (bar the extortionate memory cards where they've taken the Apple approach of locking you into their overpriced and underspecced equivalent).

Get Trine 2 for free with my Ps+ subscription today. Has payed for itself so many times over. Probably gonna grab journey, heard it's like nothing you'll have ever played, almost spiritual and a great glimpse of some of the creative things that could be done :)
