Assassin's Creed III

well, whatever, no one mentioned a new console at this E event but an announcement was almost more notable by its absence from most of what I read. also, most people seemed to think the games showcased would be impossible for 360s/ps3s to run. (personally I'm not bothered. I bought my 360 about a year ago so won't mind having a year or two of games to get, I won't be buying a next gen one until it's been out for a while either)

so, assassings creed 3 almost out. I recently got revelations for 7 quid on ebay to get myself in the mood and also hone my murdering skills. it's also reminded me of some of the things I don't like.

I'm not sure how much fun all the dens and training of fellow assassins is. it's kinda cool, at the same time though I think I prefer the idea of being a loner rather than a commander in a massive army. so I hope in intorducing conor they lay off all the brotherhood stuff a bit (I know they haven't totally as I've seen him call assassins in the game)

however, I do like the setting, using the trees looks amazing and I like this idea that in the wild it'll be your environment and you should have a big advantage over your opponents. the combat looks lovely too, I think toning down the weapons he uses is a good idea. I only used axes, daggers and maces for noveltly value, they were quite fun to take off people and then bash them about but as main weapons they were a bit pointless.

I got it, I'm not really much of a fifa/halo whatever type of guy so this had been the one I was waiting for. pretty darn tooting excellent, already been a major plot twist that was brilliantly done and there seems like a lot of things to keep you sidetracked unlike past assassin's creeds.

graphic are a bit glitchy but overall it looks incredible.

Good to hear. How do you compare this is to AC II?

Heard many reviews that this isn't an vast improvement game from previous series as fans were expecting and not as good as AC II but still do enough to be a great game. I am not going just after one or 2 opinions. So I want to hear feedback from others also.

Probably the main reason of less rating than AC II is due to amount of glitches (expected since they upgraded to new engine) but I think they are fixed in PS3 and PC version will definitely be improvement on it.

The glitches should be fixed in patches though.

Haven't got it but I heard it was very different to other Assassin's Creed games. Perhaps not as good as AC II though (hard act to follow though).

it is glitchy, I've had a cart I was hiding in get stuck then phase through a wall, and seeing it was off the path it was meant to be on it almost went off a cliff with me in it (I jumped out just as it was falling, quite cinematic but sort of stupid.) I phased through a building and got stuck inside it when I was following someone and thus failed the mission and another time a bad thing happened (won't ruin the surprise though it wasn't major) and after I had dealt with it the mission seemed to just get stuck.

respawning is also a bit weird, had a few characters just vanish and found a few in the woods kind of trapped or not reacting to me.

they are minor quibbles though, they happen every now and again so as to be annoying but the game is so utterly huge it's not like you're running into this stuff every 10 minutes.

it depends what you like the original games for. personally, I'd put it as better than all of them apart from ACII. I missed the multiple maps and found just having a huge rome or constantinople boring in comparison. I've not even got to new york yet but already there's been a few very interesting places.

the cities also seem properly alive this time around and when there's loads of people on screen all running around in a panic or fighting with each other it's genuinely staggering.

I prefer the design of the levels too the free running mechanism is easier but it's not as simple as just pointing conor in a direction and running, which it was in the ezio ones, you have to plan the routes a bit more as the trees are a bit more fiddly and the streets can be very wide. the only bad thing about is sometimes it launches you off cliffs if you're not paying attention.

early impressions are I would definitely recommend it, but that's cause I've always been a 3rd person combat and free roam nut. it's sort of like a cross between ACII and Red Dead Redemption which were pretty much my two favourite games.

Are you playing Xbox 360 version? Mainly the bugs are found in Xbox version hence low rating than PS3 one. You can try the first day patch ubisoft released for fixing bugs.

How would rate story btw? Does it have the same kind of plot twist and build up from beginning (How Ezio became Assassin and how the story moves etc) like in AC II? I probably want this answer after you have completed whole story though with not even minor spoilers. Is it as good as AC II in terms of storyline?

Also, how would you rate Conor as a character compared to Ezio and Altair?

Sorry for too many questions but I am a huge fan of this series. :D

not played much of the story, I'm not even an adult conor inducted into the creed yet. I'm just sort of getting my training right now.

also, don't worry about the questions, I'm at work and going to see my parents tonight so I won't get playing again until saturday so I'm happy to talk away about it.

but yes, they have stuff about how you get into the creed and your past, connor as a child, a teenager and then as an adult (that I'm not at yet) I would say it's really well told and possibly even better than ACII.

there is MAJOR twist near the beginning, one specific to this series and conors past, I would love to give it away but really, it's worth the wait to see it. it's a really, really cool beginning actually. it takes a good 3 hours to get to the meat of the game but you don't mind because it's all happening.

and yeah, I'm on an xbox. that explains the bugs.

Haha, no worries. I will say that I finished the main storyline and still only played 41% of the game apparently.

So do you like the ending to whole Assassin Creed Saga? Do you think it's the fitting ending? Heard many people didn't liked it. Just give answer with yes or no without minor spoiler ;)

It's not the end of the Assassin's Creed saga, I know that without playing the game. This brings in huge money for Ubisoft, there'll be yearly releases for at least the next three to four years onto next gen consoles.

It's the end of Desmond story but not Assassins Creed Franchise and I don't think we'll get yearly release now since they are going to start it from scratch now.

They'll restart from scratch in the background while continuing the yearly releases, people will buy it no matter what, it is the COD of action-adventure games, Ubisoft know it.
