Australia 2010-11 contracted players

Nathan Bracken wasn't included. :noway

Bracken still has a decent amount of years in him and his style of bowling would be ideal for the subcontinental conditions that Australia will face in the 2011 World Cup. Bracken would also solve Australia's issue of leaking runs during the last 10 overs of an innings. Sure, it hasn't been too problematic of recent, but it probably will be when we face teams like India and South Africa in major games.

The issue with Bracken, though, is who to drop to get him back in? Bollinger, Harris, and Johnson have all been taking wickets, as did McKay when he played. Then there's still Siddle and Hilfy out, and the possibility of Brett Lee making a return for the World Cup. There's not really any place for Bracken.

Not too surprised with it, only McDonald raised my eyebrow.

I'm really surprised McDonald kept a contract too. If he'll play anything, it'll only be Test matches, and with the emergence of Watson, the injury of Callum Ferguson healing, and the possibility of Steve Smith in the side in the not-too-distant future, there's really no place in the side for him in the middle order, while Harris, McKay, Johnson, and Bollinger will all beat him to a paceman's spot. Then there are the injured Siddle and Hilfenhaus.

The contracts don't mean you can't make the 2011 World Cup. Just you won't be paid as much and you aren't tied up with CA. Bracken before he got injured, was pretty easy to hit and was going at 4 an over pretty easily. His lack of swing has taken away his potency that had him rated as the number 1 bowler in ODIs.

Hartley v Wade!?!?! Don't get me started!

A 27 year old who constantly disappoints and averages 31 against a constantly improving 22 year old who averages 42 and bats like a experienced 30 year old?

:clap

I'm happy with the list overall, Tait will play ODI's at some point and thats why he's picked, Warner will most likely not be in their plans for one dayers. Macca, dunno, lucky, not sure about Voges either but I do have time for him.David Hussey is the guy though, immense talent, ridiculous hitter of the ball but is inconsistent at time for the vics and for Australia.

As aformentioned by others the selectors are basically on point with this group, except for McDonald. Dont know what the selectors see in him & i cant see in which format they seriously think he could have any use in the future.

D Hussey definaely should have had a contract. Its disappointing that they see him just as a T20 specialist.

Well Dussey had his chances and didn't take them and the selectors don't like waiting on oldish players. The fact Voges is ahead of him says it all. With Marsh and Ferguson to return his chances of making the ODI side is even slimmer.

Would have thought Bracken and Clark are better options than Lee - Clark is the only one who even looks like playing test cricket, while Bracken is a better limited overs bowler than Lee anyway.

Dave Hussey's pretty stiff too, he's just lead the domestic competition in runs scored and is still a fixture for Australia in limited overs at least.

They shouldn't have dropped Bracken. His record is freaking awesome and he can both swing and spin the bowl.

It's just a money and security thing really. Players who missed out will be busting their arses in Shield Cricket. Just because a player doesn't have a Cricket Australia contract it doesn't mean they can't be picked.
