Story Australia: New Coach and a New Era

Sammy is trying to keep West Indies in this game, but he needs the other bowlers to help him. Australia have managed to get a big total thanks to some brave batting by the tail but a draw is the expected result from me now. Either that or an Aussie win.

Great writing, mate.

Australia Win Series with Outstanding Day 4 Performance
Australia have won the 3 match series against the West Indies 2-1 after an amazing effort on what ended up being the final day of the match. Tait and Johnson continued to surprise as they added a further 76 to the overnight score, before Tait edged one to Sammy off the bowling of Bravo. He made a fantastic 79 while Johnson was unbeaten on 106. Australia then had to bowl defending a first innings lead of 141, and all assumed they would need a great performance to keep the West Indies under 300. The Aussies started well when Johnson removed Gayle in the 4th over with the score on 8. Tait came on when they had recovered to 1/25 and in a blistering spell in which he took 3 wickets the West Indies found themselves 6/64 and staring down the barrel of an unlikely defeat. Wickets fell less regularly from there but they were still dismissed for a shocking 144 in the 54th over, with in form bowler (and batsman) Shaun Tait snaring 5/35 off 13.3 overs. Hilfenhaus was also brilliant, finishing with 3/36 off 15. Only Richards (24) and Bradshaw (26) managed to get over 20 for the West Indies.

Man of the Match: Shaun Tait

Nice batting from Johnson and Tait in the tail, and some great bowling to grind them into the ground. Nice win.

Some wonderful bowling by Tait at the end there, and how about Johno picking up 100, very very good tailending batting by him. Good win for the Aussies

Sensational stuff from Australia with the ball and bat in the end. Tait and Johnson added lots of valuable runs and then bowled well enough to get the win.

Good writing, carn.

Wow, awesome to see Johnson get a ton and Tait somehow managing to score 79!!! How he did that I will never know! He then backed it up with some great bowling taking a 5fer. Awesome performance by him.

Great writing mate, brilliant read. Maybe try resizing the images to make them a little smaller in paint or Photoshop. Awesome presentation still, kiu! :)

West Indies win 20-20
West Indies have beaten Australia in an exhibition 20-20 match between the two sides. After winning the toss and electing to bat, the Windies got off to a good start to be 0/42 off 5 overs. Mitchell Johnson then struck twice in one over to have them 2/48 with Chanderpaul and the dangerous Gayle back in the pavilion. A massive 107 run partnership from 72 balls then followed to put the Windies back in the box seat. At 2/150 off 15 overs, they looked set to score 200+. The next two overs saw them to 3/163 and still set for a great score. However, some brilliant bowling at the death by Johnson and Hilfenhaus saw the last 3 overs go for 5/7, including a team double-hattrick, with the result the West Indies setting Australia a target of 171.

Two early wickets had Australia reeling at 2/28 off 3. A good partnership of 70 followed between Hayden and North and Australia were on top, requiring 73 runs off 8 overs with 7 wickets in hand. Hussey was dismissed first ball and North was unable to lift the run rate by enough, and the Aussies ended up stranded at 6/156 off their 20 overs.

West Indies 8/170 (20)
Smith 79 (52)
Sarwan 52 (33)
Johnson 4/28 (4)
Hilfenhaus 3/27 (4)

Australia 6/156 (20)
North 58* (50)
Hayden 48 (33)
Bradshaw 2/21 (4)
Sammy 2/24 (4)

73 runs from 8 overs with 7 wickets in ICC is virtually impossible, so not surprised to see you lose. West Indies made a massive total and defended it well enough to get the easy win, although they are Twenty20 specialist. I still expect you to win the One Day series however. Team double-hattrick. :D

Great writing, mate.

Aussies Regain Form
Australia have beaten Barbados in the last over of their one day friendly clash. Barbados batted first after winning the toss and were cruising at 2/93 off 19 overs despite 2 early wickets to Bracken. Again Australia took 2 quick wickets and Barbados were in trouble when they were 4/95 off 20. Some good tight bowling kept the runs down and suddenly they were 4/127 off 34 overs, with just 32 runs coming off the last 14 overs. However Australia let them off the hook here and thanks to some clever batting by Haynes (72 from 77 balls) and Benn (56* from 47 balls) Barbados posted a defendable total of 261. Simon Katich was the best of the bowlers, with figures of 1/21 off 10 tight overs.

Australia were on top from the start with a 59 run opening stand between Jaques and Hayden. A 101 run partnership followed, and when Hayden was dismissed for 88 (107), they were 2/160 with 19 overs left, and just 102 runs to win. North and Ponting put on 61 for the 3rd wicket, and the three big partnerships in a row won the game for Australia in the end as they paced themselves well and won in the last over, passing the total 6 down. Ponting finished with a brilliant 76 from just 64 balls. Hinds finished with the great figures of 2/26 off 9.2 overs.

Barbados 6/261 (50)
Haynes 72 (77)
Hinds 59 (98)
Katich 1/21 (10)
Hopes 1/46 (10)

Australia 6/262 (49.2)
Hayden 88 (107)
Ponting 76 (64)
Hinds 2/26 (9.2)
Bradshaw 2/66 (10)

Australia won by 4 wickets

Man of the Match: Matthew Hayden

The first three partnership for Australia won them the match with ease, although their bowling left alot to be desired. Hopefully you can easily win the ODI series, like you really should.

Good presentation, mate.

Great knocks from Haydos and Punter gave you another win on the board, your cruising along here and should keep on easily winning

Windies Smashed in First One Dayer
Australia have cruised to a massive 183 run victory in the first one dayer in the 5 game series against the West Indies. Australia won the toss and batted first, but consistent wickets prevented them from getting away. At 4/130 off 25 overs they looked like they may only reach around 250, but Hayden was still at the crease. Simon Katich (60 from 62 balls) and Hayden took the score to 267 before Katich was dismissed in the 46th over. The Aussies managed to score 39 off the last 4 overs anyway and finished with a very large score of 7/303. Matthew Hayden was unbelievable, smashing 23 4's and a 6 on his way to an unbeaten 163 from 149 balls.

Hayden launches the ball over cover for 4

Australia came out fired up and ripped through the Windies' top order to have them 4/20 off 6 overs, with the game all over. Wickets kept falling until they were finally bowled out for just 120 in the 26th over. Hilfenhaus was the star with 4/26 (6.3). Ganga batted well for 56 but had no support.

Australia 7/303 (50)
Hayden 163* (149)
Katich 62 (60)
Bradshaw 2/51 (10)
Sammy 2/53 (10)

West Indies 120 (25.3)
Ganga 56 (70)
Sammy 20 (15)
Hilfenhaus 4/26 (6.3)
Johnson 3/37 (8)

Australia won by 183 runs

Man of the Match: Matthew Hayden

West Indies were never going to chase that score down and all thanks to Matthew Hayden scoring explicably fast and getting massive runs. Hilfenhaus and Johnson were sensational with the ball and it was a very comprehensive victory. Good start to the series.

Quality work, mate. Nice and simple.

Good luck mate and nice presentation. Would like a paragraph or two on the two lineups, though. :)
