Indians set a Respectable Total to Chase ​

The game was evenly poised after 31 overs . One wicket at the moment could change the complete game in favour of the Lankans . While a good partnership from skipper and his deputy will make India in a great position . It was the spinners in form of Jayasuriya and Muralitharan operating for the Lankans . The boundaries were hard to come buy for the two batsmen . They kept on rotating the strike with the ones and twos . The running between the wickets was just brilliant . They converted the ones into twos . The odd boundary did come after some 2 or 3 overs . Yuvraj dominated the game very well . He hit a lofted shot over mid on which went for a boundary and with this he bought up his half century . Muralitharan and Jayasuriya both went for 6 an over and kept India in the hunt for the magic 300 . After 40 overs Indians were well placed at 231/5 .

The slog overs had arrived and it was ll to play for the two teams . Yuvraj looked just sublime as he cut Kulasekera for a beautiful boundary while Fernando asked Yuvi to play a late cut which went for another boundary . Dhoni wasnt at all gonna keep quiet . He scored 12 runs of the last over of Jayasuriya including 1 boundary and 1 six over covers and long on respective . The partnership between the two reached 100 runs in 98 balls . They were going over a 6 an over which was really the plus point . The runs came in the slog overs in boundaries . Yuvraj did most of the hitting and rotated the strike too often . Dhoni too reached his 50 with a risky single at mid on . Mahela Jayawardena was running out of ideas as the two batsmen scored runs regularly . Dilhara Fernando was really expensive and he finished his spell by giving a boundary hit by Yuvi through long on and deep mid wicket . Dhoni gave the most of the strike to Yuvi who looked well settle . Nadim Kulasekera bowled a good line and went for just 51 runs in his 10 . Indians were able to take 8 runs in the last over which helped them to set a target of 300 runs in 300 balls . Yuvraj finished off the last ball of Vaas with a huge six over long off and Yuvi celebrated his century .

Yuvraj Singh and Mahendra Singh Dhoni's 155 run partnership helped India set a 300 run total to be chased . Yuvraj Singh was just to brilliant on the day . There were lots of contribution from Dhoni and Yusuf Pathan . But it was yet another failure for Gambhir and Rohit .

Sri Lankan bowling looked weak . Dilara Fernando went for just too many . Muralitharan was not at all effective whilst Jayasuriya had some wickets but he was too expensive in his 10 . Chaminda Vaas was the most economical bowler for the Lankans .

Harsha Bhogle : So now its an easy equation for Sri Lanaka . They need 300 runs in 50 overs at run a ball . Stay Tuned because live action coming up after this short break .
