Rain destroys the final .

cricket2_420x284.jpg

The final has been called off due to some continuous heavy rains and floods since the last two days has made the ground unplayable . There is a lot of water on the ground and hence the umpires have decided that there would be no play . Due to rain the last match between Bangladesh and India was reduced to 18 overs and the rain coming down in Bangladesh again has abandoned the important final between Pakistan and hot favouraties India . This means the the Kitply Cup would be shared by both teams .

Indian Captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni has stated his frustration and said that they had a great chance o win the final . But he also says that the rain cant be control . While Pakistan captain Shoaib Malik also stated his frustration and he also said that there are some things that cant be controlled .

The competition was formed back in 1984 and is now in its ninth renewal, having proved a major success in the region.Pakistan will play host to the tournament and they will have high hopes of clinching victory in the final on July 6, in a bid to close in on rivals India’s four wins. The competition is likely to be dominated by India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka, although it gives the likes of UAE and Hong Kong the chance to gain experience at full international level.

Pitch Report

pitchreport-1.jpg

Ian Botham : Well all I can say is that the conditions are perfect for One Day cricket. Nice bright and sunny day but very strong breeze which might help the fast bowlers but can also affect the way they bowl as it would be difficult to control the swing. Now as far as the pitch is concerned its everything what you expect in Karachi . It has some bit of grass and will help swing bowlers . The ball will come on the bat and will have good even bounce . The outfield is lightning fast and once cleared the infield it will race away for a boundary . I think win the toss and bat first on such a pitch .

Toss
MS Dhoni : We will bat first as the pitch is hard and it will have some good even bounce and the ball will come onto the bat . And also we have a very strong batting lineup which will help us to put up a big score .

Mahela Jayawardena : Not disappointed by losing the toss as we have good bowling line up and i dont think there wont be any difficulty to chase the score as we have a vey strong batting lineup also .

Harsha Bhogle : Both the sides have some changes in their lineups with India replacing Pragyan Ojha and Irfan Pathan with Ishant Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan will make his debut .Sri Lanka go with a very strong bowling lineup and a good batting lineup . The two lineups look well balance and this match would be a highly entertaining match to be honest .

Very inexperienced indian line up,my moneys on Sri Lanka in this one.
Great pres mate.

Sri Lanka should easily win this game. The inexperience is just a bit too much for India.
Great works Shan. I am loving the graphics and presentation mate.

India really don't have enough experience in their squad. Sri Lanka have the upper hand experience wise...

No UAE and Hong Kong:(:p

Partnership stabilizes the innings

The two left handed Delhi openers Shikhar Dhawan and Gautam Gambhir opened the first for India . Chaminda Vaas was given the new ball and he was spot on . He was getting good amount of swing and pace . He was very good in his first over and just gave 2 runs in form of singles in his first over . Dilhara Fernando was given the ball . And he was hit for a four of his first ball . A warm welcome by Shikhar Dhawan , as he played a beautiful leg glance which beat fine leg . But it was the time for the Sri Lankans to celebrate as Gautam gambhir got thick edge of Chambinda Vaas' ball and he was easily caught by Sangarkkara . Gambhir's poor form continues as he went for 2 of 7 balls and Indians were 12/1 .

In form Yusuf Pathan walked in . He and Dhawan both played some good , free attacking cricket as they took on Dilhara Fernando . Fernando was very expensive in his 4 overs going for 9 runs per over . While on the other hand it was difficult to face Vaas . Fernando was hit for 3 fours of one over by Dhawan . One went through gully and keeper , other through covers and last on through mid on and mid wicket . Dhawan looked at his best as he was not out on 26 of 25 while Yusuf Pathan did the most wise think by rotating the strike . Yusuf Pathan was not out on 18 of 28 balls . The running between the wickets of the Indians was again the plus point and they did it often against Vaas when boundaries were difficult to come . Vaas went for just 19 runs in his 5 overs while Kulasekera went for just 3 singles in his first over . After 10 overs partnership of 46 between the two have placed at a good situation .

S.Dhawan *26(25)
G.Gambhir c Sangarkkara b Vaas 2(7)

Total 58/1

D.Fernando 4-0-36-0
N.Kulasekera 1-0-3-0
