End of 15 overs

India Fall In More Trouble
(Badri and Yuvi Back to the Pavilion)
With Rohit Sharma looking settled, the West Indies skipper Chris Gayle was working hard with his field setting and the bowlers. Jerome Taylor continued his fine bowling and just gave three runs before Gayle decided to stop Edwards and keep him for the end. Gayle gave the ball to the classy allrounder Dwayne Bravo, but Bravo didn't start the way he would like to have as he went for six singles. Still the boundaries were difficult to come by and most of the runs were singles. Pressure and frustration both were rising on the Indian batsman.

Badrinath and Yuvraj Depart

Jerome Taylor after his six overs was given a break and Kieron Pollard, another allrounder was given the ball. The medium pacer helped the West Indies in breaking the partnership between Shamra and Badrinath. Rohit Sharma just defended the ball towards the short cover area and went for the single but Pollard did some excellent running towards the ball and his throw was perfect which resulted in the run out of Subramaniam Bradinath. Badrinath looked unhappy as he made the walk back to the pavilion with just 11 runs in front of his name. West Indies celebrated, but their celebrations were short lived as the next man walked in was Yuvraj Singh.

Yuvraj Singh started of watchfully by leaving the first two balls, and then he got of the mark with a couple towards fine leg. Indians were in deep trouble and they really needed Yuvraj Singh to stay till the end. But that was not written in Yuvraj Singh's fate as the next ball he got thick outside edge and gave and easy catch to keeper Denesh Ramdin. Pollard had got the most important wicket of the match of Yuvraj Singh in his first over. The West Indies fans and players were delighted as Yuvraj walked back to pavilion for just 2 runs of 4 balls.

Indians were in deep trouble at 35 for the loss of 3 wickets when the skipper MS Dhoni walked in and he knew he was the only man who could help Indians out of this situation and for that he needs to bat till the end. On the other end Rohit Sharma the settled batsman kept the scoreboard ticking with the ones and twos and also smashed Pollard - in his second over - over covers for the second boundary of the innings. MS Dhoni too got of the mark with an easy single towards third man.

Well, after the end of 15 overs, India are in deep trouble with 46 runs on the board with the fall of 3 wickets. The run rate is just over 3 runs per over. While the West Indies bowlers have bowled brilliantly not giving much room for the batsman to play their shots. Indians need to build a huge partnership over here if they want set a defendable score on such a good batting pitch.

46 runs in 15 overs:(
Not at all good by the Indians.
West Indies Look in control but now Rohit has to play a sheet-anchor role.
Good Presentation Shan:clap

46/2 in 15 overs if just over 3 runs an over. I feel Rohit will have to stay at the crease as he has consumed a lot of deliveries and will have to capitalise on this start. Whilst at the other end, MS Dhoni is a good enough player to consolidate in this situation. A partnership will have to be made to ensure a bowlable score for the Indians.

Good write-up but the presentation and graphics are immaculate. Keep up these works mate! :)

I think it is 42/3 right? Anyways the score isnt good whether it is 2 or 3. I think this the stage is set for a Dhoni innings. But it will be difficult nonetheless. This is the make-or-break partnershipsince the rest of the batsman are mainly sloggers so these 2 need to play at least the next 10-15 overs

End of 25 overs

Sharma and Dhoni steady the Innings
(63* run partnership between the two)
Rohit Sharma who opened the batting with Gambhir was looking settled at one end with 26 runs of 48 deliveries. While on the other end skipper MS Dhoni had just faced two balls for his one run. Indians really need a big partnership from these two if they hope of setting, Gayle and his team a defendable total to chase. The pair kept on rotating the strike with ones and twos all over the park but failed to find the gaps for some boundaries. Just two boundaries had been hit in the first 15 overs and the both had come from the bat of Rohit Sharma, and surely the Indians would be hoping more from him at this stage.

Well Deserved 50 for Rohit
Bravo and Pollard continued the bowling for the Windies and the two Indians kept rotating the strike. The run-rate was below four runs per over and one of the two batsman needed to take risk at this moment. And it was Rohit Sharma who took the responsibility of hitting the boundaries on himself as he smashed the slower ball from Kieron Pollard over midwicket fielder Shiv Chanderpaul for his third boundary of the innings. Rohit looked as if he had put his foot on the accelerator and started taking some the calculated risks. Soon in the next over Rohit smashed Bravo straight down the ground but the boundary was just saved by a brilliant effort from long off fielder Jerome Taylor.

The run-rate began to rise and it was just below four runs per over as Rohit Sharma smashed Dwayne Bravo through point for the fourth boundary of the innings. The runs had started to come for the Indians. Every boundary was followed by the single so that the bowler don't get used to a particular length for a particular batsman. Dhoni on the other hand did his job of giving the well settled batsman Rohit Sharma most of the strike. With a single towards long off the duo raised their 50 run partnership for the 4th wicket. Bravo had gone for over 6 runs per over, and so Gayle decided give him a break and bring on the left arm spinner in Suleimann Benn.

Benn started of very well by giving away just 5 singles in his first over but in his second over he went for 8 runs including a boundary over mid on. With that boundary Rohit Sharma raised his fifth ODI 50. Chris Gayle decided to bring on himself from the other end replacing Kieron Pollard who had been economical in his four over taking one wicket. The two Indian batsman gave Chris Gayle some respect and just hit him for 2 singles of the over before Benn bowled brilliantly in his third over giving away just two runs.

At the end of 25 overs, Indians have upped the tempo a bit thanks to some brilliant hitting by the makeshift opener Rohit Sharma who raised his very well deserved half century. MS Dhoni and Sharma also raised their 50 run partnership and they know that the job is not done yet. They know that they both have to stay till the 40th over before they go all guns blazing at the West Indies. For the Windies, their bowlers have done a decent job and now have to see how the spinners do their job.

India: 98/2( 25 Overs, Run Rate: 3.92 )
R.Sharma: 65*(84)
MS Dhoni: 14*(26)
Extras: 0

Last Wicket:
Y.Singh c Ramdin b Pollard 2(4)

D.Bravo 6-0-37-0
K.Pollard 4-0-18-1
S.Benn 3-0-14-0
C.Gayle 1-0-2-0

Match Abandoned

Rains Abandon the Match
105559.jpg

The first game of the four match Digicel Series has been abandoned due torrential downpour. The game got off to a regular time start and Dhoni made the obvious decision to bat on a very good looking batting pitch. But the Indians didn't make the full use of the batting conditions and lost some quick wickets. Gambhir was the first one to depart as he gave an easy catch to midwicket fielder Sarwan of a Fidel Edwards bouncer for 6. Badrinath and Yuvraj soon followed Gambhir to pavilion as Badrinath was run out for 11 and Yuvraj was caught behind by Ramdin of the bowling of Pollard for just 2. Rohit Sharma along with MS Dhoni steadied the innings thanks to their 63 run partnership which saw Rohit Sharma reach his 5th ODI 50. But just after the 25th over in the first innings, the rains came down to kill the contest.

India: 98/2( 25 Overs, Run Rate: 3.92 )
R.Sharma: 68*(89)
MS Dhoni: 15*(27)
Extras: 0

Last Wicket:
Y.Singh c Ramdin b Pollard 2(4)

D.Bravo 6-0-37-0
K.Pollard 4-0-18-1
C.Gayle 1-0-2-0

Unfortunate that the West Indian weather took the better of the match, the game was evenly balanced by the halfway stage of the Indian Innings and I feel Rohit may well have got a century, however it was not to be.

Looking forward to the 2nd ODI Shantanu.

Fantastic presentation shantanu, good luck to India in the second ODI hope the rain can stay away.

it was good to see India fighting back there. but unlucky with the rain washing out the rest of the match. it would have been a belter
