Aussies a bit too good tonight. Ponting made the right call to make us set. Not only are we a bit shaky setting at times but we only had 5 bowlers and it was always going to be a tough ask defending pretty much anything.
Mason I don't want in the side again. He messed up in his first over so bad. That was a huge moment. The first 10 overs had gone alright for us. Especially had we held our chances. Gotta take them. Just the 4th and 5th bowlers weren't up to scratch. Styris is a very handy bowler, but he's not the kind of guy you want to expect to bowl a full 10 overs from. Not much we can do with so many injuries but they better sort this ████ out quick. There's only 1 day off.
Batting-wise we need to convert the starts at the top of the order. We don't get enough hundreds. Especially Taylor. He's passed 50 probably 10 or so times this season across all forms and not converted any or at least many to hundreds. Him and McCullum gift their wicket far too much for my liking.
Still, had you asked me if i'd like it to be 2-1 to Aus 3 games in I woulda taken it. Especially considering the last game coulda gone either way. Now we need to win the next match. I hope we do for the series sake. If it's a dead rubber I think we should trial a few players like Williamson and Stewart.
