How was that a choke? He was batting with number 11 and still needed a run a ball. He had to do it all himself. If 70 off 49 and 2 for 43 is a choke then :/

The shot wasn't smart. Agree there. That's the way he plays though I guess. Harris had bowled a few balls down the leg side the previous over I think which Vettori backed away and made them into playable deliveries. I guess he had those in mind and walked inside one hoping for the same. Harris got it right, full and straight.

Broom/Franklin the worst 4/5 combo in the history of cricket???
Both averaging under 20, in 20 and 75 odd games each.
Vettori confirms his legendary status, what a player, not sure why he is down at eight, considering he's better than everyone bar McCullum, Styris, and Guptill.
Have to bring in Williamson next game, and drop Broom.
Taylor should be back, and hopefully that will mean Franklin will drop down the order, or not play at all.

You can say that now but his entire innings Vettori had been hitting those types of shots very well. New Zealand still needed 13 runs at a run a ball with a very inconsistant number 11, he still needed to take risks. Had he been bowled like this with New Zealand only needing three or four runs of the same amount of ball then yes, I'd call it a stupid and unnecessary shot, but....

Anyway, hopefully we see a few changes for the next game. Ross Taylor should hopefully be back and with any luck our selectors will grow some balls and pick the best batsmen in domestic cricket and have him replace Broom or Hopkins.

At least NZ is proving how bloody woeful WI and Pakistan are, but I guess thats obvious. Pakistan is surprising, but the wheels just came completely off for them.

Reminds of the 'heavyweight' summer of 01/02 when the South African press were writing off the Aussies, our press just couldnt believe the tripe that was being written, and by the end of that one day series in SA Graeme Pollock said "I'll be glad when the Aussies get on that plane and leave". LOVED IT.

It was a hella close game. I don't think we'll lose momentum. The worry is losing all these players to injury. Taylor was a huge blow. Left a gaping hole in the middle order plus he'd finally hit form. Hoping he's back next game.

Haha, yeah it's rather annoying. He's never been the best one day player going around but I thought he would have done better then this. Hopefully he doesn't get shafted from playing test cricket because of this though, quality player in the four day game.

Broom has been given a fair run and should probably be dropped now. Franklin has been in and out of the team more and I reckon he should be given until the end of the series with a lower batting slot if hes still under performing then he should be dropped as well.

Taylor in for Broom and Williamson in for Hopkins are the changes I would make for the 3rd ODI.
