Australian Champions pushed Sharad Pawar during Presentation Ceremony!

Well, he was standing right in front of the whole team, and would have probably taken up half the photo....

To begin with, as the closing ceremony drew to a close, Ricky Ponting waved his fingers at BCCI president Sharad Pawar, signalling him to come and hand over the winners' trophy.

But the story didn't end there. As the Aussies celebrated exuberantly, the stage was set for the victory photograph. However, even as the players were taking positions for the cameras, Damien Martyn tapped at Pawar - who happened to be standing there - and literally pushed him out of the stage. Pawar walked away quietly, not showing any hurt or anger.

Honestly, who cares he's not royalty or a head of state. So it isnt like there is protocol to be observed. I didnt see it but it looks like nothing to me, a playful tap at best.

I hope this goes no futher, I really do. It's not against the rules to usher somebody off a stage, is it?

And you mention it be a gentleman's game... they aren't even playing cricket there!

He is a Agricultural Minister of India and BCCI's President also.

In the last RWC John Howard presented the WC I think it was, now if he was standing in the way straight after that the English had the right to give him a tap and say move it!

Booo hoo, get over it. There is no big deal from what I can see.

This incident occured during the Presentation Ceremony and slowly this issue is heating up in India.Australian team showed no manners at all during that ceremony and they pushed back Sharad Pawar the BCCI President.See the following pics:-

Look how Ponting is asking for the trophy and then Damein Martyn pushing Sharad Pawar.

You forgot to give someone credits for those pictures. ;)

Anyway I don't like it either like they handled him. First Ponting started gesturing to him and then Martyn pushed, and some other players asked, him away.

the fat bugger was blocking the cameras, its not about him, its about the aussies getting their just rewards, he should hand over the trophy and get the hell outta the way ..nuff said.

Also im sure it was done in a friendly manner, they all seem to be smiling about it.

Why is there even a thread on this? Who cares if some bloke got pushed out the way of a photo. I reckon he should count himself lucky for only getting a gently push instead of a hip and shoulder.

Ah right, why were we expecting the Australian team to behave humanly? With regards to your comments, they should have just finched the trophy and taken it to the room after the successful run chase.

They can be forgiven due to excitement of the situation and there should not be a furore about this, but it is just a bit of a behavioral issue, nothing more, nothing less. If you really want to delve into this from a more serious angle, it was a little bit of disrespect to Indian culture, due to a little ignorance from the Aussies in that regard.

"First, it should not have happened. It's important to show respect to elders, especially to someone who is so dear to the cricketers. To someone who is involved with cricket. Such incidents should be avoided," he added. Pretty soon it all burst out in the open. Former cricketers and officials were quick to attack the 'haughty' Australians.
A little bit high there, I doubt most of the cricketers have heard of him, I guarantee you if this happened to James Sutherland no one would have cared, although James might have given the old hip and shoulder back :D Nothing more than an overreaction, has he even came out and said anything about it, I doubt he even cares?

if someone who is trying to get out of a train pushes you out of the way, do you care? no, because you shouldnt of been in their way to start off with

He's standing on the stage when it should be for Australia to celebrate on.

Typical from the BCCI, thinking that cricket is all about them.

By the way, what stopped you posting this in the correct forum?

no one was denying them the stage but there is something called as basic manners!

and wtf BCCI has to do with this? don't give stupid excuses for uncivilized behavior.

Um, i watched it live. And i watched a replay yesterday. And as Australia was handed the throphy and huddled up for all the photographers, i couldnt help notice this day-dreaming idiot just standing in front of the whole team. What was he doing???? Posing for a photo??

What was Australia supposed to do??

I have Digital sports active and i can select 'stadium effects' instead of commentrary, and you can clearly hear the aussies telling him to get out of the way, yet he just stood there.
