Australian Champions pushed Sharad Pawar during Presentation Ceremony!

:D Seriously, Andrew?

I think if it was David Morgan he'd laugh it off, heck if it was Tony Blair he'd laugh it off.

It's India being precious because we won another trophy and they didn't. The whole ceremony was a shambles, but I guess I should've expected that. With the billions of dollars they have in the bank, India have never seemed to be able to do a organised, efficient presentation. They seem to drag up every board member they can find. Joke.

Tbh I have a different take on the matter as compared to the other Indians posting, its was hardly serious, just a move to Pawar to tell him to move quickly so that they can celebrate in front of the cameras, unless something abusive was said to him, which Im assuming wasnt I think it was a hardly serious matter blown out of proportion.

Um, i watched it live. And i watched a replay yesterday. And as Australia was handed the throphy and huddled up for all the photographers, i couldnt help notice this day-dreaming idiot just standing in front of the whole team. What was he doing???? Posing for a photo??

What was Australia supposed to do??

I have Digital sports active and i can select 'stadium effects' instead of commentrary, and you can clearly hear the aussies telling him to get out of the way, yet he just stood there.

i agree totally, the guy seemed to be totally unaware and they gently nudged him out of the way, it was all pretty light hearted. If you think the aussies were being culturally insensitive..thats utter nonsense!!

the guy should have respected the champions space and limelight..HE was the one being rude.

I think the issue in this whole debate stems from a lack of communication by the tournament organisers. The Australian team should have been correctly briefed by the organising committee regarding what was going to happen in the ending ceremony.
I mean, different countries have different traditions regarding prize givings, how are the Aussies meant to know what was going on?

I doubt many places have a tradition of having random opposition board members blocking out half the team in photos or including them in team celebrations.

And this news is becoming big.
No it isn't, your press is bitching and the rest of the world doesn't care

However, Pawar laughed off the incident. "It was a small thing, a stupid thing," Pawar said in the Hindustan Times. "I don't want to react."

gotta love tendulkar, comments on something he didn't even say. I have lost all respect for him now.

the indian press needs to stop whinging, we whooped you in your own backyard but yet you still need to make up excuses, get over it!!!

Talk about making a mountain out of a molehill, when I saw it I had a bit of a chuckle and that was it. Even the guy who was pushed (I really didn't know he was! :p) doesn't really care. I don't see what the problem is, it wasn't particularly hard a push and there was no real animosity involved

Sachin Tendulkar, who usually prefers to stay silent on most controversial matters, also took a swipe at the Australians.

He was asked to comment, so he did. Its not like he came out especially to speak on the matter.

Personally, I find it to be a funny. Rude, but funny. Not very smart to do something like that in a foreign land where the media reporters are looking for any non-issue to make money off of, but they were excited and this shouldn't be made into a big issue.

These are the perks of international cricket.

I agree. Sachin Tendulkar mentioned the fat bloke as "dear to the cricketers". Who the hell is he?! I've never heard of him!

The gesture from Ricky Ponting has nothing to do with it either. That's not manners, that's just a bit of fun. It was like he was saying "we haven't won this before, hand it over". Good on you.

This should not go any further. If it does, as I said I will start to doubt this sport. The fat bloke got ushered out of the way. Get over it! If he had been standing in front of my photo, I would just shout "OI, SOD OFF"! :D
This is what is a cultural difference between 2 countries
Calling someone who is thrice your age , `a fat bloke` is not somthing you can get away with from your elders !

As someone else in this thread mentioned that the ausseis should have given him a shoulder or a hip, it is just not right as far as we are concerned as we are taught to show respect to others (mainly elders) here in India.

I bet the reactions would have been different , had this been done to Mr.Malcom Speed ??

At least he deserved some respect for his age if not for his positon held in BCCI .

You lost respect for Sachin because he commented on this issue. What about Ponting who two days ago criticising the West Indian players for not attending the ICC awards and was demanding an action against them from ICC bcoz of indiscipline. And he himself forgot what discipline is,and how many fans were watching it live. You guys are not bigger than Sunil Gavaskar and Sachin Tendulkar so if they say anything that matters most than us.This is not the first time Ponting was caught indisciplined.I and many
Indians have no respect for him now.Australians might be the champion team but when it comes to discipline they r no where. And it has nothing to do with India not winning the Champions Trophy,it wasn't India-Australia final,India were out of the champions trophy before the semi final so your logic here doesn't seem to impress.

And what about Ponting showing fingers and ordering Powar to handover the trophy surely it was before they got the Champions Trophy in their hand,so at that time they weren't celebrating.

if even today CA is trying to teach these animals on respecting players and officials in their training camps, there is no need to say anything more!

but this is definitely wrong:
