Australian Domestic Cricket

Reforms at work.

----------

Pity though, that it means the only cricket to follow at the moment is CLT20.

Going to be interesting choice. Also read this one:
Australia Cricket News: Not picked between Haddin and Wade yet, insists Michael Clarke | ESPN Cricinfo

I haven't really been impressed by Wade I have to say. He's been reasonable, but I think his batting looked pretty scratchy overseas - in all forms. He made that 100 in the WI test sure, pretty good innings, but it was his best moment in the last 6 months by far. I can see the potential there, and he occasionally plays well. But to me an in form Haddin is the better player.

The other thing to consider is Tim Paine. I'm on the Paine side of the Paine vs Wade argument, mainly because Paine brings more of a fighting quality to the middle order of the Test side which will be badly needed once Hussey disappears. Wade might be the better limited overs batsman though - time will tell. But anyway...if the selectors still favour Paine over Wade, they made give Haddin the job this summer temporarily, while they give more time for the Wade vs Paine thing to play itself out.

Agreed and true point about Paine. Based on how played in the few tests he featured in prior to his injury, he certainly showed those batting qualities.

Hughes form in the shorter format really needs to be rewarded, it is second to none. Plus probably the easiest way to ease him back into the top level.

I always thought he would be a fine T20/ODI batter, I guess the selectors don't think so...

Ye i'd pick him in the ODI team now for sure.

Still giggling about Wade charging Quiney. Wish I had a clip.

^What exactly happened??

And add me to the queue of 'Hughes for ODI cricket' supporters. It would be a good stepping stone. He's obviously had problems at the top in most of his Test knocks, ODI cricket is a good way to play against the top bowlers but not have that same amount of technical examination. At the moment I think he'd be a darn sight better ODI opener than Warner! Warner doesn't seem to know how to build an innings in ODIs. Warner's got past 50 only twice since that final series last summer in about 15 ODIs - lots of 10s,20s,30 type scores. But that's the problem, Warner will NEVER be dropped while he's so popular, so there's no spot for Hughes in the side.

Would also like to mention I loved seeing Ponting and Ferguson get 100s in these current games. If the Marsh bros are going to implode, we need Ferguson to step up. And Ponting is a legend - go son!

Ye this is just the sort of form Ponting needed and with Tendulkar looking finally passed his best - this could be the season where he re-establishes himself as the world's best batsman alongside Kallis.

We can only hope Ferguson's hundred can be start of something good. It is becoming a bit worrying now that none of the young talent AUS batsmen are scoring big hundreds consistently @ first class level.

Also what the hell is going on with the Marsh brothers? :facepalm

Just the usual from Ferguson, don't even know why people were talking him up again. He has had one knock over 50 in 6 innings so far this season. Definitely needs to be more consistent.

Speaking of which I have a bad feeling Maddinson could be our next Ferguson, that guy is super talented and plays spin better than most but doesn't have that application.

Paine cut the ball well but straight into Quiney's boob at gully. Eventually he gets up off the grass and they realise he caught it. But he's looking a bit worse for weather and Wade, student of AFL that he is, races in and gives Quiney the hip and shoulder to 'test him out'.
