Australian Domestic Cricket

Henriques starting this season like last season, just needs to break that mind barrier of getting that first 100 in FC. Hopefully SOK can get a 100.

I didn't think Henriques did much at Glamorgan, but he has obviously come into this season perfectly prepared.

Copeland's so freaking tidy it should be illegal. Danger man S. Marsh back in the pavilion cheaply as I type, so we're looking good to equal last season's impressive 1 win in 10 matches in our opening hit out.

Copeland starting this season nicely after the blimp last season. Looks like SOK like Henriques just needs that first 100. Not bad by Nevill as opener, I like the move. We really need Maddo to step up.

Will be interested to see how Henriques and SOK play this season. Solid performances could see them become regulars in ODI/T20 set-up.

Hoping Bollinger can force his case too. The way he has been cast away from the national set-up since the adelaide 2010 ashes test, has been a total mystery.

Nevill looks good too, Wade could do with a solid competition moving forward.

Henriques has a hell of a lot of ground to make up. I'd be very surprised if he got into the ODI set-up, he'd have to have a monster and I mean monster, season at that format. Same with O'Keefe really.

I like O'Keefe, I always like watching him bowl. I thought he would have been given more opportunites at national level after starring in a couple of A matches.

Well Henriques did make the ODI team a couple years ago. He certainly is more talented than Christian. But yes he needs to be very very solid this season to get into the limited overs teams for sure.

With O'Keefe i don't think it will be that hard for him to get a look in those formats. Doherty's form has tailed off and we don't know if Hogg will play on (or if the selectors will want to him play on) after the current world-cup - as plans for the 2014 tournament will begin.

Well for me O'Keefe would have been in the World T20 squad over Doherty. Selectors are so desperate to have that batting #8 you might as well have that guy be O'Keefe and play 3 quick bowlers below him.

Agree about competition for Wade too - he's been really patchy on all the overseas tours thus far.

Its not really about a desperation to have batting # 8. Its just very useful if you can balance your T20 XI, with a competent bat @ # 8. Some of the better balanced T20 teams in the world cup currently in Pakistan, Sri Lanka, South Africa, England and even NZ have such a player @ # 8, while still maintaining an solid team balance overall.

O'Keefe is not a wicket-taking spinner. Fairly innocuous, although his batting is of # 8 quality for t20's for sure. Hogg is the wicket-taking spinner, which is why he was recalled.

Agree about competition for Wade too - he's been really patchy on all the overseas tours thus far.

Ye, plus i have the sneakyyy suspicion that Clarke is going to push for Haddin to keep in the first test @ the gabba

Haddin and Henriques in form... hmm... wonder if Haddin will get back in the test team this summer?

Henriques in with a good shot at a 100 once again. Decent stuff by Smith always unlucky being run out like he was.

I wasn't expecting that scorecard when I saw 7/302 at stumps. Horror start losing the top three with just 7 runs on the board, but not surprised to see Jackson Bird in there causing the damage.

As angryangy mentioned the other day, Henriques is certainly looking more comfortable back in Aus after his first class stint for Glamorgan, where he managed just 64 runs in 8 innings. I've always had high hopes for him, so hopefully this will be his breakthrough season.

Things will get interesting in the WK department if Haddin can bang out a few more scores and Paine returning. Shame Nevill isn't getting the opportunity to show his glovework though.

Australia Cricket News: Australia news: Brad Haddin back in training after tough few months | ESPN Cricinfo

Based on the above dan brettig article on cricinfo from a couple months ago, it seems that all Haddin needs is make runs and he will slot back into the keeper spot for the 1st test @ the Gabba, since Clarke still values his experience.

I certainly wouldn't be against it if he can continue on from this. Nev will get the gloves back for NSW and Wade can return to the Vics and hopefully progress further after having a decent amount of exposure to the international scene.

Out of curiosity.. where are Hughes and Khawaja? nvm, they were part of the batsmen cull.. SA and Qld or something.

Just noticed day 2 had kicked off already, no thanks to cricinfo's session by session updates. Henriques already notching up his century and Copeland pulling more than his weight at the other end. Had a bad feeling that Bird would make quick work of the tail.
