Ganga responded well and restored the lost balance... But still lots of work to do for WindiesA.. & Aussies shd make sure that they restrict WindiesA at the max below 300!
Ramdass Becomes MacGill's Third - West Indies "A" 5/208
Stuart MacGill was re-introduced into the attack with great success as the leg spinner took the wicket of Ryan Ramdass for 23 to reduce the West Indies "A" side to 5/208. Ramdass has played only the one test for his country, where he opened against Sri Lanka in 2005 where he contributed only 3 and 23.
However Ramdass looked in far more control during his time in the middle order before holing out in the deep to Shaun Tait on the square leg fence off a half tracker outside leg stump.
Welcome back as we rap up a very entertaining days cricket between the Australian's and the West Indies "A" side. The home side eventaully managing to make it to 5/231 at stumps. Michael Slater is with me and Slats its been a very even contest so far?
Yes it has Mark and the West Indies definatly deserve the credit for sticking it out today. Australia have bowled tight lines and put the pressure on but the batsmen but the top order has looked very consolidated. Denesh Ramdin and Darren Ganga espeically.
Just on Darren Ganga Slats, were you suprised that he didnt open the innings today? Hes played very well down the order today though it must be said.
Yes a little bit suprised but this was probably done to give him a little bit of extra time with a bit less pressure. He may open in the second innings we aren't sure but he definatly has been the pick of the batsmen. And surviving till stumps was really important and he showed he could tough the last session out against Clark and Tait who were bowling very well.
Ok well thanks very much for your comments Michael, thats it from us in the commentary box be sure to tune in tomorrow as we will see if Australia can get into the tail.
(Darren Ganga has been extremely solid in defence in the lead up to stumps)
Wow, Macgill was very impressive giving away 19 runs only in 16 overs with eco rate of 1+ per over.. excellent Macgill He shd be the man to create damage to the lower order!
The bowling tactics of Australian leg spinner Stuart MacGill has come under critisism from West Indies "A" captain Darren Ganga after an interesting days play at Barbados. Ganga appeared frustrated with the around the wicket tactics employed by MacGill when he addressed the media at the end of the days play. Ganga was unbeaten on 62 when stumps were drawn.
"I thought all of the Australian bowlers bowled well today, unfortunatly Stuart MacGill however was extremely negative in his approach. He spent alot of time bowling around the wicket outside the leg stump which wasted away a lot of momentum in the last session.
To be honest we were feeling the pressure from Shaun (Tait) and Stuart (Clark) but when MacGill came on and bowled around the wicket it seemed to let us off a little bit. Sure he didnt go for runs, but we never really felt worried about losing our wicket."
(Stuart MacGill has come under pressure for his bowling tactics)
This reminds me the issue between Giles and Tendulkar where Giles frustrated Sachin with negative line and infact that lead to the first ever stumping of Sachin in Test match!
Hopefully, MacGill gets Ganga's wicket tomrw( i mean Day2 ) as a sweet revenge that too from around the wicket
