Dravid Chops On - India 2/44

India fell further into trouble in the 2nd test after losing captain Rahul Dravid for 20 as the tourists slipped to be 2/44 on day 3 of the test match. Shane Warne continued on with his superb form to bowl Dravid middle stump, with the assistance of the inside edge of the Indians bat. The captain was looking to continue on with the form that made him 56 in the first innings.

The tourists will now look to Sachin Tendulkar and Gautam Gambhir (who looks in his 1st test brilliant form allready) to rescue a match that is quickly slipping away.

McGrath Traps Gambhir - India 3/63

Glenn McGrath continued the Indian misery after dismissing in form opening batsman Gautam Gambhir for 25 to leave India in desperate trouble of 3/63 still trailing Australia by 198 runs. Gamhir appeared to be adjudged LBW perhaps a little unfairly with the best fast bowler in the world bowling around the wicket at the time, perhaps indicating the bowl may have gone down the leg side.

Sachin Tendulkar and Sourav Ganguly will have to use all of their wealth of talent to bat as long as possible to, currently a positive result for India will involve over 2 days of batting and a draw on the distant horizon.

McGrath Gets His Man - India 4/74

Glenn McGrath claimed the priced scalp of Indian legend Sachin Tendulkar for only 11 as India slumped further to be 4/74. McGrath teamed up with captain Ricky Ponting, who took a fabulous catch at 2nd slip as the talented batsman looked to defend to the off side. The McGrath leg cutter doing enough to find the outside edge of Tendulkars MRF bat.

It was a crucial blow to the Indian cause as they look squarely down the barrel of a humiliating defeat as McGrath appears to find his top form. If Lee, McGrath, Warne and MacGill continue to bowl as they are a crushing Australian defeat looks the likely outcome.

Ganguly Falls To Symonds - India 5/93

Andrew Symonds and Ricky Ponting teamed up superbly to dismiss former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly for 18 as they reduced India to 5/93 on day 3 of the second test match at Adelaide.

Ponting took a superb catch at silly mid off after Symonds ripped an off break that caught the edge of the bat. The wicket brings test debuton Mahendra Dhoni to the pitch to attempt to do something very memorable.

Roy Strikes Again - India 6/122

Andrew "Roy" Symonds struck yet again with the big wicket of Yuvraj Singh for 12 as India crumbled further to be 6/122. Symonds tempted Singh into producing a big shot over deep mid off, however Singh could only manage an inside edge that flew high in the air to backwards square leg. Although the ball spent a long time in the air Glenn McGrath made the ground easy to take a simple catch.

Symonds Bags Three - India 7/123

Andrew Symonds claimed his 3rd wicket of the innigns with the dismissal of leg spinner Anil Kumble for a 2nd ball duck to reduce India to 7/123. Kumble appeared frustrated at the position his side was in, and in turn decided to take on the bowling of Symonds before he had fully had a chance to get his eye in.

The result was Shane Warne taking an easy catch on the deep mid wicket fence with India now only 3 wickets from a humiliating defeat.

Khan Falls Early On Day 4 - India 9/150

Zaheer Khan was the 9th wicket to fall as India were reduced to 9/150 and only 1 wicket from a demoralising innings defeat at the hands of a Shane Warne lead Australian side. Khan, like some before him, was caught in close attempting to play the ball to the ground. However the ball caught the top of the bat and popped up to Andrew Symonds who was fielding in close on the off side.

All that stands in the way of an Austrailan victory is the talented and gutsy Mahendra Dhoni and tailender Ajit Agarkar.

Warne Wraps Up Dhoni - India 10/161

Shane Warne completed a remarkable test match for Australia and himself personally as he wrapped up the Indian tail to give Australia a resounding victory by an innings and 98 runs. Warne took 4/41 from 21.3 overs to go with his 5/14 in the first innings to take match figures of 9/55.

The final wicket to fall was that of Mahendra Dhoni who battled bravely at the death to make 43 from 85 balls. The young entertainer will take alot from this innings into his 2nd test.

The test will long live in the memory banks for many Australian fans who saw one of the most dominant displays in Australian history. Centuries from Michael Clarke (140) and Adam Gilchrist (157) accompanied the brilliance of Warne (4/41 and 5/14) along with Andrew Symonds (3/25).

Match Presentation - Mark Nicholas

Nicholas - Welcome to the beautiful Adelaide Oval after one of the most dominant displays of test cricket in quite some time. With me i have Rahul Dravid, the captain on the unfortunate side of the result. Rahul is there much you can take from this match?

Dravid - Well Mark not alot to be honest with you. Very dissapointed in the way we approached our cricket over the last 4 days. We started very well but let Gilchrist and Clarke get away from us. But our batting was pathetic we just didnt put our head down enough and fight for our country.

Nicholas - Mahendra Dhoni was a bright light for you though?

Dravid - Yes thats true, he showed his natural flair in the 2nd innings so he will be one to look out for in the final test and the one day series after that.

Nicholas - Well Rahul ill let you get back to your team good luck in the final test in Hobart.

(Rahul Dravid at the post match press conference)

Nicholas - Well here we have a delighted Ricky Ponting. Ricky there isnt alot more you could improve on or ask of your lads?

Ponting - No Mark im totally satisfied with the way we played over the course of this test. While we started slowly Gilly and Clark saved us in the middle and then Warney just came into his own on a wicket that really gripped and turned.

Nicholas - It will be a great finale in Hobart next week Punter, hoping to wrap the series up?

Ponting - Yes defiantly, however its much easier said than done. They will come back and come back hard at us so we just have to keep at the top of our game. It will be great to play infront of my home crowd.

Nicholas - Well all the best infront of what will be a packed home ground Ricky, congratulations.

Match Presentation - Mark Nicholas

Nicholas - Well here with me i have the man of the match for the home side, im sure it was a tough decision by the judging panel with Michael Clarke, Adam Gilchrist and this man all in contention. However the judges have decided that the man of the match for the 2nd test in Adelaide is Shane Warne. Shane congratulations

Warne - Thanks very much Mark.

Nicholas - Shane a great performance over the past 3 days by you and the boys, these conditions really suited you here in Adelaide.

Warne - Yeah very much so Mark. Its always great to bowl on a turning wicket but to have the likes of Stuie, Simmo, Binga and Pidge helping me out it makes my job so much easier. But the job is still only half done so we now just have to look forward to Hobart and hopefully finish the task at hand.
