Openers Debut Fizzles Early - Australia 2/19

The International debut of Phil Jaques was over after only 19 balls as Australia lost their 2nd wicket of the run chase to be 2/19. Jaques scored 13 strong and confident runs as he looked to get on top of the pace pairing of Akthar and Sami. However Akthar trapped the left hander plum in front with a quick seamer. The wicket brings the out of sorts Andrew Symond to the crease with Australian captain Ricky Ponting

Pace Duo Match Rivals - Australia 2/38 (10)

Shoaib Akhtar and Mohammad Sami proved that experience is just as useful as youth as they matched the first innings attack by Brett Lee and Shaun Tait to leave Australia in a voulnerable position at 2/38 after 10 overs. Sami has been the pick of the bowlers with 1/12 from 5 overs while Akthar has bowled at his quickest with 1/23 from 5 overs. Ricky Ponting has looked shaky on 10 while Andrew Symonds is scratching around early with 7.

Abdul Razzaq and Danish Kaneria must now step up and fill the shoes of Sami and Akhtar.
